US National Weather Service Miami Florida have published a closer look at the evolution of heavy rainfall and flooding that occurred across South Florida earlier this month.
Flash Flood Warnings were issued on the afternoon and evening hours of June 11th, June 12th, and June 13th with a rare Flash Flood Emergency being issued on the afternoon of June 12th; the first time this had happened since the historic Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood flooding of April 2023.

A heat advisory remains in effect for Broward County until 8 pm Friday, as feels-like temperatures climb into the triple digits.
Be cool, Broward! Drink plenty of fluids, find a cool spot, stay out of the sun and take extra precautions when outside. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening and take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Innovative thinkers and leaders from business, government, higher education, and nonprofits are invited to attend the 16th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit on December 16 - 18, 2024, at the Casa Marina Resort in Key West, Florida, hosted by Monroe County BOCC.
Previous Summits have attracted nationally- and internationally-renowned speakers, 750 attendees, and dozens of exhibitors, and highlighted major regional projects and cutting-edge tools.
The internationally recognized Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact was created in 2010 by Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties to coordinate and collaborate on climate change action across county lines and is a leading example of regional-scale climate action.

We're looking for an Energy Resilience and Sustainability Specialist to play an important role supporting community resilience and clean energy initiatives.
Position responsibilities include planning and project management support to advance electric vehicle and renewable energy strategies.
The successful candidate will also participate in the development of a County-wide Resilience Plan that includes risk assessments, identified infrastructure improvements, and potential redevelopment strategies.

Congratulations to the Broward County Resilience and Broward County Environmental teams, who competed in the Ft. Lauderdale Lexus Corporate Run on Wednesday, March 20th.
A total of 4,296 registered for the event, representing 182 companies. Broward County Government had 170 competitors altogether this year.
The Lexus Corporate Run is an institution in South Florida and is one of the largest 5K races in the nation. The purpose of the Run is to promote running and walking as a means to a fit, healthy lifestyle for people from all walks of corporate life.

Xavier Cortada Foundation, partnering with Broward County Resilience and Broward County Cultural Division, officially launched “The Underwater: Broward” at Water Matters Day.
Over the next few months, through a combination of school engagements, public art, and community events, “The Underwater: Broward” will emphasize the vulnerability of Broward residents to rising seas, while sparking a process for community engagement, education, and action.
Look out for our Broward County Transit electric bus with elevation-themed art!

The Broward County Resilience and Broward County Cultural Divisions are collaborating with the Xavier Cortada Foundation to bring The Underwater campaign to Broward County.
Xavier Cortada will be a mainstage presenter at ‘Water Matters Day’ on Saturday March 9th, 2024, (Tree Tops Park, from 9 AM - 3 PM) when he will engage the audience on climate change through art.
Throughout the duration of Water Matters Day, attendees can learn their elevation, and craft personalized elevation markers with the artist and team at the Underwater: Broward Booth.
The Underwater: Broward is generously funded in part by a grant from the Community Foundation of Broward.
Local leaders are paving the way to resilience, and Broward County Government led by Vice Mayor Commissioner Beam Furr and CRO Jennifer Jurado, is demonstrating its commitment to proactive collaboration and exchange 📣
The creation of the Broward County Resilient Environment Department in 2020 and the initiation of its Climate Action Plan in 2010 were significant milestones in the County's resilience journey.
With the ongoing process towards a Renewable Energy Strategy and a Net Zero plan, as well as its emphasis on equitable community engagement for addressing flood and heat risks, Broward County showcases its dedication to sustainability for all.
