🍂This fall, a new cohort of high-school students from Madera Unified joined the Trust's Youth Parkway Ambassadors program. Throughout the semester, Ambassadors learned new outdoor skills in preparation for planning and leading public open house days. 🛶
The Trust was able to implement a new program activity for this cohort based on feedback from previous participants. Youth enjoyed an overnight campout at Millerton Lake, complete with paddling, stargazing, and roasting marshmallows around the campfire. In her post-program survey, one YPA member shared that the camping experience was her favorite part of the program because she had never had the chance to sleep outside before. ⛺️
Two Ambassadors have joined our River Camp Winter Wonderland ❄ as paid staff and are helping younger children from the Fresno and Madera Unified School Districts build connections to the natural world of the Parkway.
People like you make the Trust's work of connecting children and youth to the outdoors possible. Through your generosity, we can continue fostering a love for nature, inspiring curiosity, and cultivating a sense of environmental stewardship.
