Fresno State Kinesiology
Fresno State Kinesiology - improving students' lives by providing insight, education, and practical experience in exercise, sport, and physical activity.
Congratulations graduates!!
Congratulations to physical education graduate, Logan Mouawangyee, who was selected as the undergraduate dean's medalist for the College of Health and Human Services at Fresno State - the highest honor awarded to an undergraduate student within the college! đ
We are pleased to announce our 2024 Undergraduate Deanâs Medalist, Logan Mouawangyee, who is completing his bachelor of science degree in kinesiology with an option in physical education, as well as a minor in Japanese.
The son of first-generation immigrants, Logan has lived and learned all over the world, from Japan, Australia and the U.S. The many diverse cultures and landscapes from throughout his childhood have forged his commitment to succeed and to give back at Fresno State - his home for the past four years.
As an active member of the campus community, Logan has served in leadership positions across various clubs, committees and organizations on campus, including as a student coordinator for the Amendola Family Student Cupboard - a role he cites as the most formative of his college career.
Logan says he was drawn to the physical education field because he knows he has the power to impact young lives in powerful ways. Going forward, Logan intends on obtaining a single subject physical education teaching credential through the Kremen School of Education and Human Development and applying to the sport psychology graduate program at Fresno State. Inspired by his father, Charles, Logan is also exploring a possible career in the U.S. Navy.

On March 7, our Kines 123, 126, and 144i students took part in Clovis Unified School District's annual "Adapted PEâExceptional Circle Team Skills Challenge." They volunteered their time and skills to support over 130 youngsters at Gettysburg Elementary in a variety of movement-based activities. These future physical educators not only provided leadership and encouragement but also handled the logistical needs of the event. Youngsters with differing abilities participated in activities that encouraged youngsters to engage to the best of their abilities. The event was a tremendous success for all.

Last week, the Department of Kinesiology hosted its annual Sport Science Institute summer camp for Fresno Unified School District high schoolers who are interested in pursuing kinesiology as a future major and/or career. Graduate students and faculty in the Department of Kinesiology led the activities and workshops for the nearly 30 participants, who attended interactive workshops and activities to learn about the athletic training, exercise science, sport administration and physical education professions!
Kinesiology students from the Pedagogy Club recently partnered with the Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame to serve as docents for young student-athletes visiting the exhibition inside the Save Mart Center. It gave them a chance to utilize their leadership skills, while also learn more about local star athletes (past and present)! Learn more:

Dr. Mark Baldisâ deep connections to Fresno State began in 1971 when he was just a precocious 13 year old. Long before many of the infrastructure changes at the University, Baldis was already building roots on campus as the son of a dedicated professor.
âAfter school, I would get on my bicycle and ride out to Fresno State and hang out in the back of my momâs classroom and do my homework,â Baldis reminisced. âIn fact, Iâve taught in the same classroom in the Lab School, right next to my momâs former office.â
Today, Baldis is a longtime lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology's exercise science program and recipient of the Provost's Award for Outstanding Lecturer. Read more at the link!
