Truly humbled to be named the DFWChild 2023 Mom Approved Wellness Professionals award 💙 for the third year in a row!
After completing graduate school, I made a very conscious effort to reject the traditional medical model of mental illness and shift to mental health care and wellness. I started integrating positive psychology concepts into my practice, teaching wellness classes, and focusing on a strengths-based approach with my clients. So it feels especially gratifying to win this award in the Health and Wellness category!
Having clients trust me with their stories is truly one of the most sacred gifts in being a therapist. Beyond grateful to be able to hold space for them every day ✨
"92% of people in couples therapy say it keeps their relationship healthy, and those who are in therapy–couples or individual–are more likely to say their relationship is going smoother than normal. Therapy, whether done together or separately, can be a beneficial tool in relationships to prevent problems from forming and can keep existing issues from becoming bigger"

"The only guarantee about is that however you feel right now, you will not always feel this way."
If your life has exploded into a million little bits, you don’t need platitudes. You don’t need cheerleading. You don’t need to be told this all happened for a reason. Some things cannot be fixed. But they can be carried.
The messy, complicated truth about grief Mourning the loss of a loved one isn’t efficient, compact or logical, says writer Nora McInerny. She explains why.
We think being hard on ourselves will motivate us to work longer + push harder, but it often leaves us feeling drained, unhappy, and worthless without accomplishments.
Instead, celebrate where you are right now. It’s not like the to-do list ever gets shorter.
Consider this as your invitation to be gentle. (I’m telling myself just as much as I’m inviting you) 💙
Happy Halloween 🎃👻
Halloween can thrilling and fun… and it can be full of scaries and tears.
Remember: all feelings are welcome! And reminds us that the more we talk to our kids about what to expect, the more they will feel in control… which means the more they will *act* in control.
This Halloween, let everyone know it’s safe to have, feel, and express their emotions. Ask how they think they’ll feel when you announce, “Time to go home!” - kids who can anticipate their feelings tend to be better able to regulate them, because they are less taken by surprise.
✨ And see what part of the holiday you can embrace with playfulness. We deserve some fun too… break from the usual routine and prioritize silliness with them!

It’s , a designation that I hope will eventually sound as unnecessary as World Eating Day or World Sleeping Day, because mental health is health, and inseparable from who we are as human beings. But for now, mental health is still stigmatized and misunderstood, and if giving it a special day means more folks publicly share their stories, then I’m all for it.
Lifestyle shifts are a real piece of recovery, so here are some gentle reminders.
I post and share all this because visibility is so important. Normalizing this conversation not only helps us feel less alone, but it will save lives.
Be kind to your mind. 💖 Sending love to all who need it.
special thanks to for the words and images 🧠
What are you doing to take care of your mental health?
In this mental health crisis, tech-leveraged therapeutics are the future of care. 🥽
Therapy offered electronically not only increased accessibility in some circumstances, it has also been proven to be just as effective as in-person treatment (APA, 2020).
“The reality is there will never be enough high-quality providers to meet the growing demand for mental health services,” Singhvi says. “If we’re serious about addressing this crisis, we have to let go of the idea that therapy can only be done face-to-face and recognize the huge gains provided by user-friendly automated digital interventions.”

Thrilled to share that I’m featured in “What Will the Future of Mental Health Care Bring?” by Verywell
“People aren’t returning to the couch,” says Priya Singhvi, LPC, LMFT, Director of Clinical Operations at Rey. “Covid-19 dramatically affected the practice of talk therapy by incorporating wide scale adoption of technology. Many clinicians have made the choice to continue treating people remotely. Now that telehealth has taken off, there’s no going back.”

set this simple intention for the day
Tried my first sound bath last night with a Sound Alchemist using Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls. are a meditative, multisensory, and unique experience in which participants are bathed in the vibration of various wind and percussion instruments while lying down.
Unlike other forms of meditation, Sound Baths focus on ambient sounds, rather than silence or a guided practice to reach a new state of tranquility. This lie-down meditation encourages deep relaxation, allowing you to settle into rest.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was very curious about sound meditation, so I was eager when the opportunity presented itself for me to deepen my meditative practice in Hawaii.
Have you tried sound therapy?
What did you think?
Conflict is an opportunity to know each other better 💙 (as counterintuitive as it might sound)
The difference between conflict bringing us closer together or taking us further apart is how we show up for and navigate the conversations. I learned that early in my The Gottman Institute training + work with couples.
➡️ Swipe for a few tips from Amber Rae who created this guide for hard convos.
Conflict is inevitable in our important relationships. I’d love to hear: Is there a convo you’ve been avoiding? Which tool might help?
Working session with Rey colleagues in Hawaii!
When Serena + I realized we’d both be working remotely this week from Oahu, we wanted to prioritize face time together. Since transitioning to a hybrid post-pandemic world, I often think about the importance of :
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯?
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴?
𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘐𝘙𝘓 𝘧𝘰𝘳, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘦? Priya Parker
For me, it was connecting about non-work life, understanding what makes us excited to get up every day and work for a mental health company (even though we work in very different sides - clinical care vs. growth and marketing), and most importantly, savoring the beauty and awe of Hawaii.
What are you prioritizing when/if you make the leap to gather together in person?
Take 15 seconds to breathe mindfully
✨ Inhale your biggest breath in through your nose
✨ Exhale through your mouth and release anything that does not serve you in this present moment
✨ Repeat as often as needed to bring presence + calm to your Monday. Aloha!

It was a wake-up call for me when reminded us that overworking + over caretaking of others can be forms of self-numbing (and pretty much my kryptonite as a = + ). It took a while to unlearn this in an individualistic culture where I often felt we must (as I say) hustle for our worthiness.
Though this mindset doesn’t come naturally, I am so grateful that in my work with members + clients I can reinforce the value of joy, rest, play, wellbeing, creativity, and mindfulness... and especially grateful when the guilt and “shoulds” don’t tag along!

What does your inner child need from you today? Let’s share in the comments ✨ via
Childhood caregivers and surroundings deeply shape how we see the world, and especially how we see other people. As kids, we often develop behaviors and mechanisms that keep us safe in childhood, but harm or hurt us in adulthood.
When we notice ourselves judging, labeling, or categorizing ourselves we can ask:
🌱 “Where did this response or behavior originate?”
🌱 “How did it serve me?”
🌱 “Does it still serve me?”
🌱 “Do I want to let it go?”
🌱 “Are there larger social and economic forces driving my behavior?”

We need to talk.
I am finding myself sharing this mantra with my Rey members and Meaningful Minds clients more and more these days. Why is being clear and setting boundaries so hard?
Most of us avoid being direct in an effort to be polite or compassionate. Feeding people half truths or beating around the bush is unkind. Not getting clear with a colleague about expectations because it feels too difficult is unkind. “Choosing our own comfort over hard conversations is the epitome of privilege, and it corrodes trust and moves us away from meaningful and lasting change.”
So... what courageous conversation are you going to explore? It’s the kind thing to do.
🎙I did my first podcast! In this episode, I talk all things Virtual Reality + the future of therapy. Spoiler alert: people aren’t returning to a psychologist’s couch! 🛋
As the Director of Clinical Operations of Rey, I am super pumped to share about the promising transition to digital environments for mental health treatment in this podcast episode with Mood Wellness Collaborative.

As most of us return to our first full week of school, consider asking these three questions 💙 And model by answering them, too! As an educator and psychotherapist, I like to ask learners these on Fridays as the weekly recap. I’d love to hear what your kids say!
A new way of experiencing is here...
I’m excited to announce that I have accepted a new role as the 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 + 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘀𝘁 for Rey! The work is energizing + inspiring, and I get to lead and hire an incredibly talented team of therapists, counselors, psychologists, health coaches, wellness advocates, and psychiatrists. Rey is powered by OxfordVR (founded from the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry) and is pioneering the use of virtual reality to create autonomous, clinically validated psychological treatments. We are creating something that I believe will truly revolutionize therapy and how we care for our mental wellness.

It’s been a tough week for 💙 Please take a moment to check in on your friends who might have been affected by the rolling power outages, impassable roads, and limited access to water. At a time where you might feel like there is little you can do, a sincere reach out can go a long way to let folks know that you care about them as they navigate one of the worst winter storms in over a decade.
