Opt for reusable water bottles, bring your own shopping bags, and say no to single-use plastics. Let’s leave only footprints and take only memories. Every little action counts! 🌊🌿

This year's NC Recycling Day at the Capitol was a hit! After a brief meeting at the NC Dept of Environmental Quality headquarters we took a walk over to the Capitol for some fantastic SweetWater Ices and met with some of North Carolina's Legislators! We had a wonderful time beating the heat with a sweet treat and great conversations around NC's recycling and waste reduction efforts and how we can improve upon them, including helping to reinstate funding for the Solid Waste Trust Fund. Recycling in NC is a huge job creator with over 15,000 industry jobs, is an economic driver with over 550 recycling companies, and North Carolina is a huge manufacturing supplier for the recycling industry. Reach out to your legislator today to help educate them about the power and positive impact of recycling and waste reduction in North Carolina and how they can support our industry in better ways.

I’m a proud volunteer and supporter of the Carolina Recycling Association. CRA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established and maintained by a community of people – multi-national corporations, small businesses, local government, state government agencies, and individuals across the Carolinas who are committed to waste reduction and recycling efforts. With over 300 member organizations (over 800 individuals), the CRA is ever growing and changing to benefit our members and the recycling industry, and advancing recycling and waste reduction in North and South Carolina since 1989.

We must educate our lawmakers about the positive impact of recycling and waste reduction in North Carolina, and how they can support our industry in new and better ways. Recyclers will meet at NC DEQ Headquarters briefly before heading over together to the NC General Assembly portico, where we will enjoy a sweet cold treat and meeting our lawmakers as they head into their sessions and offices. Participants are also encouraged to schedule appointments with their legislators in their offices during the event.
Please register for this event ahead of time; there is a cap on the number of participants.
