Update 10/26/2023: the in-person sessions for this class have been postponed to Spring 2024.

Registration is open for our Fall 2023 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training class!

The classroom portion is done online followed by two in-person sessions. This training is free to those who live, work or worship in Greenville County.

This Wednesday at 2:20PM ⬇️

IMPORTANT: On Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 2:20 p.m. ET, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs.

This is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years. No action is needed.

A look at the active assailant and hazardous materials exercise that took place at the old County Square Building yesterday. Exercises allow for multiple agencies with multiple disciplines to come together to test their skills in a real world scenario. Thank you to all those who participated!

An emergency exercise involving law enforcement, fire, EMS and our County Emergency Response Team is currently underway at the Old County Square building. Those in the immediate area may see emergency vehicles and hear loud noises. This is just a drill.

Emergency exercises are important so that all responding agencies can practice together what they would do in a real world scenario to include collaboration, communication and coordination.

September is National Preparedness Month. Our Get Ready Greenville County event was created in 2018 to help our community learn about the hazards we face, how to prepare for them, and meet those who have a role in disaster response, preparedness and recovery in our community.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for much of Greenville County from 12PM until 8PM due to high heat and high humidity.

Hot conditions are expected across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia this afternoon. Heat Index values of 100 to 105 will be common east of the mountains, with more widespread 105 values in northeast Georgia and the western Upstate of SC.

Emergency agencies across the state train with SC Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team Several Emergency Response teams have partnered up with the South Carolina Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team as they prepare for real world emergencies.

You may see or hear helicopters near Persimmon Ridge on Wednesday and River Oaks Retreat on Thursday. This is a part of our annual training with SC-HART.
