On Oสปahu, 75% of the 1,000 annual cardiac arrests will occur at home, but only 32% of these incidents receive chest compressions before professional help arrives. This highlights the urgent need for young people and their families to know how to take immediate action during cardiac emergencies to significantly improve survival rates. Hawaiสปi Heart Foundation wants young people to feel confident, be prepared, and share these lifesaving skills with friends and family members.

In a significant step toward enhancing emergency response capabilities across Hawaiสปi , the Hawaiสปi Heart Foundation has begun teaching a hands-on CPR/AED training session to 10th graders and as a part of the course, each student who participates will receive a CPR/AED competency card. The Hawaiสปi State Department of Education's acknowledgment of this card underscores its potential to revolutionize CPR education both within the community and beyond. As the Hawaiสปi Heart Foundation paves the way for a more informed and empowered community, the introduction of this CPR/AED participation card marks a new era in emergency response training, which is characterized by accessibility, inclusivity, and efficacy.

These 15 nonprofit executives represent diverse missions and perspectives, but have a shared dedication to serving the people and communities of Hawaiสปi. We are honored to share and learn together with them this year.

Thank you to all the executive directors who took the time and effort to apply to the program. We were extremely impressed by the quality of applications we received this year.

And mahalo to the generous funding partners who have supported the HANO Fellows program (either in its inaugural year or in subsequent years)! Thank you for your investment in growing and connecting Hawaiสปiโ€™s nonprofit leaders.

Charitable nonprofits are famously and appropriately barred from engaging in partisan, election-related activities thanks to the longstanding Johnson Amendment. But that doesnโ€™t mean 501(c)(3) organizations are forced to sit on the sidelines and watch silently as candidates for public office define the issues of the day.

While scrupulously maintaining nonpartisanship, charitable organizations have the ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ต๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† to stand up as nonpartisan advocates for truth, their missions, and the well-being of their communities.
