In partnership with Career Exploration and Development, we are excited to offer Graduate Career Peer Drop-in sessions again. These sessions are a way for you to get help with quick questions about programs and careers, resume and cover letter critiques, accessing and navigating Handshake, increasing your networking skills, learning interviewing tips, and more!
Sessions will be offered on Tuesdays in University Library 314 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Join us as your schedule allows and know we are here to help you with all of your career needs!
Each drop-in visit will typically last about 10-15 minutes. You are welcome and encouraged to attend multiple drop-in sessions throughout the semester.

The Write Place returns this Fall in University Library 314 on Thursdays from 12-3 p.m. beginning August 29. In collaboration with the Writing Commons, a graduate writing consultant will be present during every session to assist students as needed. Students are welcome to join whenever they are able!

This TA Training is open to all graduate student instructors and teaching assistants who may benefit from learning more about their teaching roles and responsibilities. Whether you are the instructor of record, the TA for a science lab, or anything in between, we invite you to join us for this TA training to learn more about best practices and where you can turn for additional support, as needed.

The College of the Arts is currently seeking a graduate intern to assist with implementing college-wide and DEIA Strategic Plans for Fall 2024. One of the key initiatives this role will support is the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Community Gathering. Additionally, this position will serve on the College of the Arts DEIA Steering Committee. The position will require a commitment of 10 hours per week and begin the week of August 19 and end the week of December 8. The Summer 2024 Research Writing Retreat for Graduate Students will be held on June 28 and 29! The retreat will run from 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 6/28 and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, 6/29. The retreat will be in the University Library Garden Room (1st floor).
One day of retreat is $20 and two days is $30.

KSU will commemorate Juneteenth with a community celebration that combines the rich history of Black Americans with an assortment of festivities. Kent State University has entered into an agreement with United Healthcare Student Resources to make a student health insurance plan available. All qualified Graduate Assistants are eligible to enroll in this plan. The University subsidizes 70% of the cost of the insurance premium for qualified graduate assistants. Graduate Assistants are responsible for 30% of the cost.
Policy Year: The student health insurance plan year is from 8/1/2023 through 7/31/2024.
On-line enrollment for this health insurance plan is a TWO-STEP process:
Step 1: Complete the on-line application process via the link below.
Kent State University will verify your eligibility. This may take up to two business days, or longer if the graduate appointment cannot be verified. You will receive an e-mail from UHCSR confirming your eligibility with instruction on how to complete step 2 and submit premium payment.
Step 2: Follow the directions in the UHCSR e-mail to submit your premium payment. Payment can be made via credit card or e-check. Enrollment in this health insurance is NOT complete until UHCSR processes your payment.
Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to submit a panel, roundtable, paper or workshop for the Reimagining the Academy Conference. Proposals may be submitted through Monday, June 3. The conference will take place Friday, September 20 through Saturday, September 21 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The IRC is having a study event to prepare for finals week! The event is next Tuesday, April 30th from 3-5 p.m.!
Freedom Paws dogs will be there! Join us for light snacks! A tutor will be available too!
The Graduate College Cohort will be accepting things till the end of Spring 2024 semester, 5th May 2024, in University Library 314 to create a time capsule that will not be opened until 2044. If you are interested in participating, please bring a non-perishable object that can be placed inside the time capsule. Participants will also have the opportunity to write letters to people in the future. Non-perishable objects can include artwork, media (like CD's, books, music), letters, and any personally customized items, like mugs, photographs, stuffed toys, etc.
The Division of People, Culture and Belonging is hosting a clothing drive for Earth Month April 22nd-26th! Collection bins will be located in the lobbies of Heer Hall, the Student Center and the Library. We are asking for gently used clothing to be donated to give back to the Kent community!
Please note, the Heer Hall donation bin will be located at Earth Fest on Monday, April 22nd.

The Moore Center is searching for a summer intern!
The summer intern will assist with the Moore Center’s summer programming efforts, assist with administrative duties, and represent the Moore Center to incoming students and families! This is a wonderful opportunity to get experience in a higher education office setting, gain valuable professional development, and learn how to plan events and programs! There is also the opportunity for this internship to extend into the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
