The Community Development Department thanks its valued Permit Center customers for their patience and understanding while the City worked to restore its internet connections, network and systems, including the main website.

🌐 All of the Department’s webpages and online services are now back online, secure and operational. City systems were taken offline temporarily as a mitigation measure following a recent network security incident.

👨🏽‍💻 Customers may visit the Permit Center at City Hall for all building permit and business license services during regular business hours. While walk-ins are welcome, appointments are highly encouraged to minimize wait times. 📅 Visit the link in bio to make an appointment.

Payment systems at the Permit Center have been restored. Customers may make payments by cash, credit (Visa or Mastercard only), check or cashier’s check/money order.

Online permitting has been restored and is available for the following:
☀️ Solar panels, energy storage systems and electrical vehicle charging stations
💧 Water heater, reroof and electrical panel upgrades
🏡 Minor repairs/alterations for one- and two-family dwellings

🔎 Our services for scheduling building inspections and obtaining the daily appointment schedule have been restored and are available online. To schedule an inspection or view the daily inspection schedule, visit longbeach.gov/lbinspections.

⚠️ The City’s systems and main website continue to be offline for mitigation purposes following a network security incident earlier this week. While online permit and license systems are currently unavailable, customers may visit the Permit Center at City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd., 2nd Fl.) for permit and license drop-in services during regular business hours.

💻 Depending on the transaction size and type, Permit Center customers may be able to make payments by cash, check or credit card using a third-party service provider. In some instances, there may be the option to defer payment to a later time.

🔎 Previously scheduled inspections are being honored and new inspections are being handled by phone request at 562.570.LBCD (5223). While the Department is maintaining permitting operations for those who need immediate assistance, some delays may be experienced during this time. For all permitting needs that can wait until after the Thanksgiving holiday, customers are encouraged to consider waiting until Nov. 27 to submit a new request.

Out of an abundance of caution, systems have been taken offline effective immediately during the investigation and potential remediation. 💻 The City’s Permit Center is closed today until 1 p.m. this afternoon. When the Permit Center reopens, limited or delayed service may be experienced and fee payments will only be accepted by way of check until further notice. 🏗️ The Planning Commission meeting scheduled for today, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. will be held in person at the Long Beach Civic Chambers located at 411 W. Ocean Blvd. The meeting will not be available virtually as previously planned. The study session related to accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and Senate Bill (SB) 9 will not take place at today’s meeting. The item will be rescheduled for a later date.

➡️ While the City’s full website will not be available during this time, information regarding the incident is available at longbeach.gov. The webpage will provide timely, transparent information regarding this incident, serving as a central information hub. Follow Long Beach City for updates.

Join us for three events supported by our Housing and Neighborhood Services team's Community Development Block Grant Program- with two this Saturday❗

The Puente Latino Association is hosting a food distribution event with fresh produce, including Thanksgiving turkeys at Houghton Park (6335 Myrtle Ave.). Starting at 8 a.m., this event promises a helping hand with enough to help 150 families. 🙌

Simultaneously, the College Square Neighborhood Association is organizing a Thanksgiving dinner assistance event, benefiting 100 families with free food items! 🦃 Stop by any time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 186 W. 67th Way.

On Tuesday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to noon, the AOC7 Neighborhood Organization will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner food pantry to assist 200 families with free food items to prepare Thanksgiving dinner at 628 Alamitos Ave.🧡

🚮 Two events, funded by our Neighborhood Micro Grant Program, are being hosted by the Washington Historic Association with a first-aid kit giveaway and Willmore City Heritage Association with its EcoHarvest Festival. 🌽 The EcoHarvest Festival is expected to offer free workshops, entertainment, lunch for participants, school supplies and more!

The first part involves the revision of development regulations in Downtown, emphasizing the expansion of housing options for all income levels, including affordable housing projects. 🏗️

The second part, the Downtown Shoreline Vision Plan, aims to understand stakeholder expectations and create a modern community vision for a beautiful waterfront in the Downtown Shoreline area. 🌊

At its Sept. 12, 2023, meeting, the Long Beach City Council awarded a contract to Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, a fiscal sponsor for Long Beach Residents Empowered (LiBRE), to establish and operate a Community Land Trust (CLT)! 👏

CLT is a nonprofit, community-based organization that raises funds, acquires and develops real estate with the goal of providing permanently affordable housing opportunities for residents. 🏡
