Last night was our first in-person general membership meeting at Northeast Valley Health Corporation since the pandemic and members there are fired up! SEIU 721 President David Green updated everyone about the latest exciting developments at our union including crossing the 100,000 member mark and playing a huge role in securing big wins in our latest state budget. Union membership is growing across the country as workers are making their voices heard and flexing their collective power.

Our next NEVHC contract doesn't expire until next summer but we know how important it is to start early and members are already gearing up to win our best agreement yet! Stay tuned for more at NEVHC!

Together, we fought for a FAIR California budget, including a $25 minimum wage for healthcare heroes and protections for children, families, immigrants, and workers.

We still have a lot of work to do, but thanks to our members' hard work and the support of CA leaders, we're on our way to a more equitable future!

HAPPENING NOW! The SEIU 721 African American Caucus' 2024 Juneteenth Celebration is officially underway at The Proud Bird! Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 and it commemorates the start of actual emancipation for Black Americans. The AAC is proud to continue the legacy of our beloved President Linda Dent by hosting its first in-person Juneteenth celebration since the start of the pandemic. "The claim that [the number of fast-food jobs] has fallen represents a flagrant misrepresentation of government employment figures."

The fast-food industry claims the California minimum wage law is costing jobs. Its numbers are fake Fast food lobbyists say the higher California minimum wage law led to a loss of nearly 10,000 jobs. The claim is baseless.

Breaking: Occidental College student workers voted overwhelmingly to join SEIU Local 721, according to a tally of votes today by the NLRB!

The victory caps a nearly year-long campaign dubbed Rising Occidental Student Employees (R.O.S.E.). We welcome them to our union family!

The results are in, and we're proud that NTT faculty in three LMU colleges voted YES to join our union!

Over 200 of our dedicated members joined the training event, where we were joined by County of Los Angeles Department of Parks & Recreation Director, Norma Edith Garcia, and heard from our SEIU 721 President, David Green. We ensured everyone started the day right with a nourishing breakfast before getting down to business.

Understaffing, high stress, and poor working conditions hinder our dedicated Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA) workers' ability to care for animals and protect Southeast communities. That's why we rallied outside SEAACA today to demand the justice and respect animal care workers need and deserve!
