G**s Against Briggs | 2. Defend Our Children | Slow Burn 06/07/2024

I am interviewed on Season 9 of Slate's podcast "Slow Burn: G**s Against Briggs," which focuses on the attempt of Congressman Briggs to outlaw "homosexuals" from teaching in public schools. Harvey Milk and Sally Gearhart really led the fight against the defeated measure. You can hear my raspy voice starting at 29:00 into episode 2 (it's free by the way)

G**s Against Briggs | 2. Defend Our Children | Slow Burn In 1977, John Briggs was a small-time state senator with big dreams. But Briggs’ plan to ban gay and le***an teachers from California schools changed the arc...

Ripley, Believe it or Not 04/07/2024

Kapi Rent Payments - Formstack 04/10/2023

Parents frequently ask ,"How can I get my student's Kapi student housing rent billed on their IC student account?" It's easy! Each student receives instructions and a link to this request form during their pre-arrival orientation. A few keystrokes later and they've completed the request for this rent billing! Their entire semester of Kapi rent will appear on their student statement.

For the students who make this request, ICLA receives an invoice from Kapi for each month's rent. The invoice is forwarded to the home campus and their rent is processed electronically and sent back to Kapi.

The students will still see their Kapi rent billed on their personal Kapi portal, but the charge will clear once the payment from IC to Kapi hits. There are no late fees if the IC processing is delayed for any reason.

Using this method allows students and parents to use their student financial aid packages (scholarships, grants, loans, 529 funds, etc.) to pay for Kapi housing rent as if they were living on-campus in Ithaca.

This payment plan is applied to Kapi rent and the $250 Kapi placement fee. This payment plan does not include the required Kapi liability insurance (generally $5/month unless waived upon proof of other coverage), Kapi reserved parking (if requested), or the initial $500 Kapi security deposit. Those costs are all the responsibility of each student.

And, here's the form!

Kapi Rent Payments - Formstack Please complete, sign, and submit this form to authorize Ithaca College to bill your student account for the full semester of your Kapi rent and your Kapi placement fee. You will be responsible for paying Ithaca College for these billed Kapi expenses. You will be responsible for paying Kapi for any....

Look who braved the Los Angeles Blizzard of 2023 for a tour of the Warner Bros backlot! Yes, it was cold and wet, but we all had a great time!

Photos from Ithaca College Los Angeles Program's post 02/07/2023

So, what have we been up to, you might ask? How about checking out a local microbrewery, touring historic Olvera Street, hiking to the Hollywood Sign, catching a taping of Whose Line Is It Anyway, and visiting the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum! Lots going on, lots more planned!

01/10/2023

Thanks to an IC alum (who is also a producer of the show), the ICLA Spring 2023 class will be attending a taping of "Whose Line Is It Anyway"! Class, check your email for the sign-up link! Parents, text your students to check their email!

01/09/2023

It's almost that time of year again! Our Spring 2023 students will be arriving in LA starting this Sunday, and we're thrilled to be starting another semester. The forecast is for all this rain to subside early next week, and we should have sunny days be the first weekend before classes begin. That means...hike to the Hollywood Sign!

We'll be making updates regularly this semester on this page, so save it as a favorite and keep checking back for the latest ICLA news.
