We have a new chalkboard wall in our Ronald McDonald House! We're so excited to have a space where our families and volunteers can leave notes of encouragement and express themselves for current and future guests. It's just right off the kitchen, so make sure to leave your mark the next time you are in the House.
Congratulations to the Nations Family, who went home after 21 nights at the Ronald McDonald House! The Nations Family have newborn twins. Baby sister (pictured) was released early and got to spend a few nights at the House with mom and dad. Right after this picture, they headed to the hospital to pick up baby brother and all head home together.❤️
Look at this cute RMHC family! Benjamin's parents stayed at the Ronald McDonald House last year while he was in the hospital. On their anniversary trip to Lubbock, they stopped by the House to bring donations and see Benjamin's good friend, Ronald! We love getting to see our former families and see how much our RMHC kids have grown. Thank you Figueroa Family for stopping by.

Happy 4th of July! Thank you to our community who make it possible for our families to celebrate and have fun even when they have a child receiving medical care.
Congratulations to the Natividad Family who went home after 6 nights at the Ronald McDonald House! ❤️
When it comes to staying close to their kids and making sure they have the best medical care, our families will do anything. The Loaisiga Family have moved all the way from Nicaragua so that Eithan can receive the cancer treatment he needs. The family has been been so grateful for the care of RMHC of the Southwest and our supporters while they are far away from home. Recently this included a shopping trip so the family could purchase swimsuits and be part of all the water related fun at the House this summer. Even though they are going through the struggles of childhood cancer, the Loaisiga's are happy to be together in their home away from home.
You can help support families like the Loaisiga's by visiting www.rmhcsouthwest.com.
Now & Then: Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Lubbock. Today marks our 18th anniversary for our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Covenant Children's and UMC! The furniture and decorations have changed but our mission has remained the same. The Family Rooms allow families to take a break from the hospital rooms to grab a snack, do laundry, take a shower, and relax. Families don't have to leave the hospital to take care of themselves or their other children and remain just steps away from their hospitalized child.
These Family Room have been a refuge for countless families over the years and we're excited for them to continue to grow and serve families in the years to come.
We're so happy for the Augusto and the De Souza Family who are going home after 36 nights at the Ronald McDonald House. Congratulations! ❤️
Welcome to our newest RMHC of the Southwest team member, Emma Thompson! Emma will be graduating from Texas Tech this August and will be working part time as a Family Room Coordinator. Emma will be based in our Ronald McDonald Family Room at UMC Children’s Hospital. She is excited to get to work in serving our families in the hospital and has personal experience in dealing with childhood illness.
“Joining the incredible team at RMHC fills me with hope and gratitude. As an older sibling to a leukemia survivor, I know firsthand the love and support families and siblings need during challenging times. Being in the Family Room, I am excited to be able to help provide some entertainment, relaxation, and peace throughout the chaos. I am honored to be part of RMHC, where hope shines brightly, and I look forward to serving these remarkable families with compassion and dedication.”
We’re so glad to have Emma joining them team!
Summertime fun at RMHC of the Southwest! Thanks to Seahorse Community Pool for allowing our families to come swim this week. One of our RMHC kids, Waylon, was particularly enjoying spending time in the water and having a blast.

It's and we have two new items at the top of our list. We need: disinfectant/cleaning wipes and coffee creamer. Especially with how full our House is, disinfectant wipes makes keeping everything clean easier for our staff and families. Our families also drink a lot of coffee in our House and Family Rooms, and being able to offer something a little sweet for it is always appreciated.
Donations can be dropped of at the House or our Family Rooms. You can also donate items from our Amazon Wishlist here: https://a.co/0KzEUBV.

Everyone say "hi" to Jeffery! Jeffery has been such an amazing addition to RMHC of the Southwest while he works here temporarily after a work injury at another job. You can find him Monday-Thursday at our Ronald McDonald Family Room at UMC. Jeffery is so good at making people feel welcome! He recently got a such a beautiful kudos from one of the families who used the Family Room.
"The McDonald House Room [sic] in the hospital was so good to me and my granddaughters...We are far from home and the attendant gave them all toys [and] snacks...And, kept us adult in coffee, snacks, and showers. I don't know what we could have done without this little spot. Thank you from the bottom of my heart".
Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at UMC, Covenant Children's, MCH, and Midland Memorial are such an important part of our mission. We are so glad to have people like Jeffery there to support families who are going through one of the hardest times in life--having a child in the hospital.
