Alumni Spotlight Bill Short ES 515 Class of '71 (From our Spring Newsletter)

Bill Short is both the Epsilon Sigma Chapter Advisor and the longest serving employee, working for the College for 49 years. He is currently the Rhodes College Archivist and was recently interviewed by local news station Channel 5, about the history of Rhodes College.

Brother Short was recruited to Sigma Nu before he came to Rhodes. He chose Sigma Nu because he knew more of the brothers, primarily from Presbyterian Church camp.

The members that he met felt the most welcoming group and best fit for him. He has two favorite memories. The first was the time around homecoming, when he designed and built the winning Lawn display for the Sigma Nu house. He remembers the party that night as a "pretty high old time". Another cherished memory was the service project at the Porter-Leath orphanage, where he and the brothers spent time with the orphans playing basketball and helping with homework.

The chapter had a fantastic homecoming celebration this past weekend, welcoming alumni in town for class reunions up to 50 years ago (such as Bob Wild, '66). We hope that every alumnus to come through was able to see the significant progress that has been made towards the restoration of the chapter house. If you would like to support the chapter in further renovation efforts, please consider donating to our basement campaign:

With homecoming on the way, please consider donating to the campaign to restore one of the chapter house's most beloved and important spaces, the basement. This small, short campaign will be the completion of the first phase of very important work the chapter has already done, and will provide a springboard for the rest of our total house renovation. If you're in town this weekend, we can't wait to show you the progress we've already made, and hope you'll be a part of the progress yet to come.
