Representative Justin Pearson's reappointment is encouraged by BB CHANGE!
We support Justin Pearson and request that he be reappointed by the Shelby County Commission to the Tennessee House of Representatives. We had the pleasure of meeting Representative Pearson at the beginning of the year. He gave us guidance while we were just starting out in this work and talked to us about how crucial it is for youth voices to be present in community organizing. His faith in Memphis and in us is greatly appreciated!
Our CHANGE Fellows from the Mental and Emotional Health Matters (MEM) cohort went to Nashville to urge support from legislators for house bill HB 0558. This bill would allow students one day per year to use an excused absence for mental health reasons.
Fellows from MEM have been hard at work pushing for state policy chances that support young people in Memphis and Tennessee when it comes to their mental and emotional health. We are so proud of them!
