The Concordia Orchestra has the pleasure of welcoming guest baritone Maximilian Krummen for the upcoming 2024 Masterworks concert on April 21st at 6PM in Memorial Auditorium. We look forward to all those who can join us for the concert this Sunday!
Congratulations to Dr. Annett Richter who was awarded the 2024 COSS Mentor Award for her mentorship of Lydia Repnow's presentation titled, “Mysterious Manet: An Examination of Musical Paradoxes in Edouard Manet’s (1832-1883) The Spanish Singer (1860).” Congrats to both of them! 👏
The Concordia Choral Program is excited to share their performance of Craig Hella Johnson's "Considering Matthew Shepard" on April 28. This powerful and moving work will be the final event of "Considering Matthew Shepard: 25 Years Later," a multi-event project using music, performance, art, and spoken word to bring focus to prejudice and tolerance while engaging our campus and community in conversations on how to erase hate in the world while exploring the legacy of Matthew Shepard 25 years after his tragic death.

This past weekend was certainly one to remember. The Concordia Percussion Program hosted its 32nd annual Percussion Day on April 13th with learning bank concerts before. We welcomed guests from across the country.
The Music Department would like to thank the support of Zildjian, Vic Firth, Pearl and Adams for sponsoring this year’s day. We would also like to thank our companies listed in program and photo for all the generous door prizes - without support like this we wouldn’t be able to do what we do every year.
The Concordia Symphonia Orchestra is in their final dress rehearsal for their concert tomorrow on Monday, April 15th at 7:30PM in the Centrum.
This performance will feature soloist Dr. Albina Khaliapova on the piano, a world premiere of Katie DeLaMare Troy’s “The Fantastical Candy Factory” and student conductors Kelly Klontz and Erik Ault.
The Cello and Double Bass Studio will be hosting a Contemporary / Classical Performance today at the Rourke Art Gallery in Downtown Moorhead. Doors will be open at 3:30PM and concert begins at 4PM, followed by a reception.
We hope you can join us! 🎵 The concert will feature works from composers Tony Osborne, Sofia Gubaidulina, Terry Rilley, Alexander Tansman, BJ Davis, and more.

The Concordia Concert Handbells is going on tour this spring. They will be traveling north to share their music. We can't wait! 🎵👏

The Concordia College Music Department is honored to share the performance of The Concordia Band today on Thursday, February 15th at 6:45PM at the MMEA Mid-Winter Clinic. The Music Department will also have a table in the main Exhibit Hall to share about our programs and Master of Music program as well. We are so proud! 🎶
The Concordia Opera Program will be performing Dan Shore’s “An Embarrassing Position" along with Samuel Barber’s operatic miniature “A Hand of Bridge."
This performance features a group of nine performers, and The Concordia Orchestra mixed into two chamber pit ensembles under the direction of Dr. Kevin F.E. Sütterlin and Stephen Sulich. The singers are led by vocal director Dr. Robin Griffeath.
The performance is at 2:30PM on Saturday, Jan. 27, in the Centrum, Knutson Campus Center.

Over this past summer in July, Dr. Jennie Nash, Dr. Steven Makela and Dr. Doug Harbin traveled to the 2023 College Music Society International Conference held in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. There they presented "Empathy and Music: A Model for Experiential and Integrative Learning for the 21st Century Musician" and premiered Dr. Harbin's new work Terrores Magicos performed by Dr. Nash at the Jāzeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music. 🎵👏
Last night, the Music Majors at Concordia had a wonderful meeting to kick off their year. During the meeting the Music Department discussed information of student support, major requirements and program options. 🎶 We are so excited for a wonderful year, Cobbers! 🌽

Today's feature is Kate Lathe from Sartell, MN! Kate sings soprano ... and also dabbles in ukulele, piano, bass, and trumpet! She is excited to be a part of the Concordia Choral Program, and is also looking forward to intramural sports and student government! 🎶 Her brother, Spencer, is also a Cobber and Kate is excited to join! We are on the edge of our seat waiting for Kate to be joining us this fall 🤩
