We are excited to announce that we have a new team member!

She came highly recommended from my trusted friend & colleague at The Swedish Institute. Viktoriya has a background in dental medicine since 2008 (Doctor of Dental Medicine/DMD back in the Ukraine!). She has been in the US since 2013 working as a dental assistant in NYC.

Viktoriya was drawn to massage therapy because she enjoys helping people feel better about themselves. Her goal is to help each of you achieve balance, relieve pain & tension, allowing you to live your life to the fullest.

New Hours:
We appreciate your patience as we transition to a new schedule throughout the month of August. Our goal is to be open earlier and later to accommodate the high demand for therapeutic massage. As w/ most things in life this will be a process!

Rates:
Sessions w/ Viktoriya are $160/hr + 4.5% sales tax for in office sessions.

Starting September 1st Derek's rate will be $180/hr + 4.5% sales tax for in office sessions.

MFR w/ Barb:
I am back working a limited schedule providing Myofascial Release/MFR! Sessions are 90 or 120 mins long no lotion or oil is used. You can book online or directly through me.

What is MFR?
Fascia runs throughout our body. It gives us structure, carries neurological impulses, has pain receptors, runs through each muscle spindle & fiber. There are fascial connections that have been mapped. You might have seen the posters in the treatment room.

Through pressure & specific directions of force held for a certain amount of time, it allows for thixtrophy to happen. Since fascia is a colloid (it can be solid or liquid like), MFR focuses on getting the fascia to soften. It is very profound work and holds longer over time than Swedish style work.

It can help in pain management, increase range of motion, improve posture, help the flow of lymph, improve neuromuscular efficiency, & improve muscle recovery.

It can feel very deep at times & lighter other times.

It is a great adjunct to Swedish style deep tissue work that Derek & Viktoriya provide.

Moving on up!

Due to construction noises in mid October we moved to a quieter treatment room within Cynergy Physical Therapy (https://cynergypt.com/locations/midtown-west/) . Happy to announce that we have been invited to stay. ADPT by Cynergy (https://www.alvindikephysicaltherapy.com) is expanding their gym & will need our former treatment room.

I have been making incremental improvements w/ my long COVID & am hoping to be cleared for more movement soon to get my strength back. Fingers crossed!

Derek has been caring for our valued clientele & I am forever grateful for his hard work & your flexibility in working w/ him while I recover.

My COVID infection this past December combined with my long COVID set me back some. Am getting great care & learning a lot a long the way. Excited to have been cleared for two 10 minute walks a week! Crazy to think I used to do 20 hours of massage a week no problem.

We moved to the 6th Floor.

As demolition continued on the 7th Ave side of our building, the noise increased too. Cynthia Gormezano, PT, MPT, CEO & Founder of Cynergy Physical & Occupational Therapy (https://cynergypt.com/locations/midtown-west/) graciously offered us a treatment room on the 6th floor while the demo continues.

Thanks to Cynthia's offer, Alvin's flexibility at ADPT by Cynergy (https://www.alvindikephysicaltherapy.com/) , & my husband's help we were able to create a comfortable space in treatment room 2 on the 6th floor. We can't wait for you to see it!

For now, your upcoming sessions will take place within Cynergy Physical Therapy, same building as before (119 W.57th Street, btwn 6th & 7th Ave) on the 6th floor (make right out of elevator).

As some of you know, my husband & I were recently celebrating our "honeymoon-aversary" at the Candleberry Inn an LGBTQIA+ owned B&B on Cape Cod. Five years ago we never took an official honeymoon so we decided it was time!

My allergy like symptoms started while we were away and became more intense but manageable when we returned to NYC. The symptoms have subsided, however, I am dealing w/ fatigue & brain fog. My doctor believes that I am experiencing the after effects of COVID even though I kept rapid testing negative. She said the fatigue & brain fog could last for another two weeks, oye!

Doing my best to stay hopeful, active, & hydrated. Derek has been a champ caring for our valued clients. Thanks again for your patience & understanding as my body recovers!
