Despite being new to the sport, Deandrew thrived in the Academy with the support of his coaches and teammates, who became like family to him. He received a merit scholarship for school and we're so excited to see all that he achieves in his future! π

She served as team co-captain and received honorable mention at this year's Elite Girls Rugby Showcase. Congratulations to the Play Rugby ! π Today we're celebrating Alizey, who will be attending City Tech CUNY in the Fall. Alizey has been a part of the Play Rugby family since she started playing flag rugby in Middle School! In her final year, she served as co-captain and was recently selected for the HS Girls NY/NJ All-Star Team. It has been a joy to see her develop both on and off the pitch and we know she has a bright future ahead of her. π
Congratulations to the Play Rugby ! π Today we're celebrating Anthony, who will be attending Fordham University in the Fall (one of 3 Play Rugby seniors to join the Rams π ) on an academic scholarship. Anthony crushed it in the classroom this year, improving his grades in every single class he took! We're so excited to see both his commitment to academics and his passion for rugby continue as he joins the Fordham University Rugby Football Club family.

Jayden is a tremendous leader and has demonstrated an incredible work ethic, both on and off the pitch. He was selected to play for the NY All-Star team last month and received Play Rugby's Award earlier this year. π St. Bonaventure University Rugby is so lucky to have him!!

Today we'd like to congratulate Jae, who will be attending the CUNY School of Medicine / Sophie Davis Biomedical Education and PA Programs! π¬ A force both on and off the rugby pitch, she'll be pursuing her medical degree through their accelerated combined degree program, and we know she has what it takes to succeed!
This year's Flag Rugby Festival was another huge success! Over 200 young people descended on Randall's Island to participate in 35 flag rugby games, showcasing their skills while demonstrating their spirit.
π We trained nearly 30 PowerPlay NYC coaches this season and were thrilled to host their girls for the 3rd year in a row!
π The event capped off our first year working directly in 3 Police Athletic League NYC Clubhouses with their amazing student-athletes, coached by our Youth Development Mentors!

We welcomed St. Ignatius School, Bronx NY back again this year, our longest-standing after-school program to date.
π And shout out to all of the programs from across NYC who joined us after running their own flag rugby programs throughout the year, including newcomers The Dock Street School for STEAM Studies.

We recently celebrated our Senior Girls during a pre-match ceremony alongside Morris Rugby U18-High School Girls πΉ Thanks to all of the families who joined us on this special occasion. We're not ready to say good-bye just yet, but we're SO proud of these young women and all they have accomplished both on and off of the pitch. πͺ

The HS Academy winter season is in full swing with outdoor practices (weather permitting βοΈβοΈ), indoor practices AND a return of Financial Literacy workshops, facilitated by some amazing volunteers from Life at PwC! π°
Nearly 40 student-athletes joined us at the Police Athletic League NYC in Harlem for our first workshop of the season. We're so excited to continue helping them explore career options, create personal budgets, consider what goes into making different financial decisions, and eventually plan for their future! This is what it looks like to support student-athletes π«
