๐ Hi everyone! My name is Evelyn Walsh and this summer I had the amazing opportunity to intern with Row New York! I am a rising junior at Princeton University studying History, and I am also on the sailing team.
๐ฃโโ๏ธ These are some photos I took during my 8-week long internship, during which I learned a lot about both the sport of rowing as well as the non-profit space. As a non-rower, I had heard about how impactful the sport has been for so many people and I am so grateful I got to see that first hand. My favorite part of my time with Row New York was getting out on the water to witness varsity rowers during their summer training, as well as being introduced to the sport alongside the summer campers who I saw make tremendous progress!
๐ As a New Yorker, I loved working with an organization that served the city I grew up in. I gained experience in marketing and communications in the office through hands-on learning with digital campaigns and sparking media growth.
๐ I am so thankful for all of the connections I made within the community and for how welcoming the organization has been for me this summer. I look forward to keeping up with all of the incredible athletic and academic strides that are still to come for Row New York!

๐ฃ๐ธ ALUMNI TAKEOVER! ๐ฉโ๐๐ฃโโ๏ธ
Hey everyone! ๐ My name is Sophie Wojcik and I'm thrilled to share some of my incredible experiences from my time at Row New York. From 2019 to 2023, I rowed at the Manhattan boathouse, where I made unforgettable memories and discovered so much about myself.
Rowing is a sport that challenges you both physically and mentally, and it's not always widely understood. However, Row New York taught me invaluable lessons in leadership, teamwork, commitment, hard work, and above all, a deep love for the sport. In the photos I'm sharing, you'll see how each person has had a profound impact on who I am today, and the incredible adventures we've shared, filled with laughter and support for one another. ๐
My journey into rowing began through my brother, who was rowing in college at the time. Inspired by the incredible support he experienced, I found Row New York online and decided to try out. I still vividly remember the tryouts; it was a rainy day as I walked down the ramp at PJS. Despite my initial struggles with using a rowing machine and keeping up with everyone, I was greeted with smiles and laughter. I was afraid I wouldn't find something I truly enjoyed. However, a few weeks later, I received a call back saying I had made the team. From that moment on, I learned to be more confident in myself, to trust my teammates, and to be open to new experiences.
Row New York became my second family, and I treasured every moment spent there. My passion for rowing continued into college, where I proudly joined the University of Southern California Women's Crew team. ๐๐ฃโโ๏ธ

๐โจ On Read Across America Day, weโre celebrating the magic of storytelling and its profound impact on young minds with The Boys In The Boat by Daniel James Brown, a novel about the University of Washingtonโs rowing team and their poignant journey to the 1936 Olympics.
Our Student Support & Success team recently hosted an enrichment workshop with Brown to unpack the writing process and inspiration for the novel, which was adapted into a motion picture last year. These activities allow us to foster student development in a way that mirrors the teamwork and resilience found in the world of rowing. We encourage our athletes to explore new horizons and embrace diverse perspectives, in the classroom, in the boat, and in all facets of life. Join us in inspiring the next generation to dream big and row towards a brighter future! ๐ฃโโ๏ธ๐

๐ฃ๐ธ ALUMNI TAKEOVER! ๐ฉโ๐๐ฃโโ๏ธ
Hi there! ๐ My name is Chayti Biswas and I am so pumped to be showcasing some highlights of my time at Row New York.
Some info on who I am: I rowed at the Queens boathouse from 2019 to 2023 and have been through so many exciting and emotional times. Some of the photos that are shown are just a few out of the many I have from my time at the boathouse.
The amount of hard work, mentally and physically was continuously showcased at the boathouse. No matter how hard it gets, we show up the next day doing it all over again.
Row New York has taught me perseverance, teamwork, and passion for the sport. In each of these few photos, everyone had made a big impact on who I am today and shared memories of countless amounts of smiles, laughter, and shoulders to cry on.
Many people ask how did I discover Row New York and become a part of such an incredible team and coaches?
Well, it started with my brother actually. My brother is one of the most supportive people I have known, and he knew that I enjoy playing sports. So one day, he sent me a Row New York flyer about tryouts.
At first, I was distracted by the amount of practice days...but then it was exciting to try a new unfamiliar sport. Coincidentally, a few days later, the Row New York coaches and staff showed up at my high school, and letโs just say I was in complete awe that day.
I remember the tryouts were right after school, so I called my mom asking what I should do, and she said โGo try it out, who knows maybe you will like it.โ
I am happy to say four years later, I have loved every aspect of this sport...I loved it so much that I continued it in college by joining the Hamilton College Womenโs Crew team.
In the end, everything works out, and I am grateful I took the chance at Row New York and that Row New York took a chance on me.
Together everyone achieves more
Just a friendly reminder to slow down and enjoy the drive.
And just like that, itโs the final week of summer camp! โ๏ธ๐ฃโโ๏ธ Weโre grateful for the opportunity to help another cohort of young people discover a new passion for rowing and have a summer unlike any other.
