Our summer Rite of Swing series is back! Join us on June 20, July 25 and August 15 at our usual time (4:30-6:30 PM) for monthly jazz cafes in the Temple Performing Arts Center lobby. Recital credit will even be available for music undergrads, so get a head start for the fall!

Today we send our congrats to Dr. Dylan Principi, BYR '14, '17, who was appointed an assistant professor of music theory for Florida State University's College of Music! Principi holds BM and MM degrees from Boyer in jazz education and music theory.
Temple University promises to University of the Arts students:
1.) Students who transfer will not pay any more in net tuition and required university fee costs to attend Temple University than you would if your education continued at University of the Arts. Full-time attendance and application of all available federal and state aid required.
2.) Temple University will transfer as many credits as possible to ensure you stay on track for graduation.
3.) Temple University will waive the application fee for all University of the Arts students.
4.) University Housing and Residential Life will work with you to find your preferred housing option, either on campus or in an approved Best Nest property within Temple's patrol zone.
The first step to enrolling is completing the Temple University Admissions form for University of the Arts students (link in bio). Please upload your transcripts and financial aid offers so Temple can create a record for you and start the transition process.

At the 2024 PMEA All-State Conference in April, David Zagorski, BYR ’98, received the 25 Years of Service award. Zagorski has been a band director as several area high schools and is currently at the Nazareth Academy High School in Northeast Philadelphia.

NESTICO COMPETITION WINNER | The Airmen of Note would like to congratulate Banks Sapnar, the winner of our 2024 Sammy Nestico Composers Competition!
Sapnar is from Haddonfield, New Jersey and is currently a student at Boyer College of Music and Dance - Temple University working towards his master's degree in jazz studies. He recently received an outstanding solo award at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jack Rudin College Jazz Competition, as well as The State of New Jersey Governor's Award for Arts Education.
Our annual Nestico competition encourages composers to write original compositions for big band and honors one of the earliest leaders of the Note, Sammy Nestico. Nestico is regarded as one of the greatest composers and arrangers of jazz music. Sapnar will receive a follow-up commission that will be featured at an Airmen of Note concert soon. Stay tuned!

As a Play On Philly Marian Anderson Young Artist, CAPA senior Rhyuhn Green studied privately with Boyer composition adjunct and alumnus Bill Dougherty, BYR '10, to whom he attributes in part his success as a musician. Green will continue his composition studies at The Juilliard School this fall, where he has received a full ride.
