Beaver are having a significant impact along our . Painting trees with a mixture of paint and sand will help deter beaver from chewing on important trees along our Creek.

Thank you for all your efforts! We certainly have more beaver 🦫 in town than We'd like. Reducing town populations will help limit negative tree impacts.
Significant collaboration is occurring between the U.S. Forest Service - Black Hills National Forest, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, Rapid City Municipal Government and Black Hills Flyfishers. Town beaver will be relocated to the Forest where their populations are needed to help ensure water quality and quantity for Rapid City.

Greenway Days is officially underway! Amid all of the fun, it is important to remember why we have such a beautiful Greenway and Parks system along the Creek.

Celebrate Our Community and History 🌊💚
Greenway Days, June 7-9, is just around the corner! Kick off the weekend with a 5K run sponsored by Black Hills Running Company, explore the Black Hills Photography Contest, and visit the Journey Museum’s Flood Exhibit.
On Sunday, join us at the Memorial Bandshell at 10 AM for a special recognition ceremony. Throughout the weekend, enjoy activities like the disc golf tournament, creek cleanup, ebike rentals, and so much more.
This event honors the memory of the 238 lives lost in the 1972 Flood and highlights the importance of preserving our beautiful greenway. Join us in making this a memorable and meaningful weekend!

Greenway Days: New event showcases Rapid City parks A new weekend-long event, Greenway Days, is an enthusiastic celebration of Rapid City’s parks and a reminder of the greenway’s purpose in flood prevention.
Discover and Remember at Greenway Days 📸🎣
Join us for Greenway Days from June 7-9 and experience a weekend full of outdoor adventures and meaningful remembrance. Participate in the 5K run, showcase your skills in the Black Hills Photography Contest, or enjoy the disc golf tournament. The Journey Museum and Rapid City Public Library will also be gathering stories and exhibiting archives related to the 1972 Flood.
Sunday features a special recognition ceremony at the Memorial Bandshell at 10 AM, followed by a day packed with activities like creek cleanups, ebike rentals, golf, hiking, and paddleboarding demonstrations.
This event is a celebration of our greenway’s beauty and a tribute to the lives lost in one of the nation’s deadliest floods. Come out and make memories while honoring our community’s history.
