Member spotlight: Yvonne has been a member at Forward for quite some time now, and in the last 6-8 months, her goal was to compete in the Tactical Strength Challenge. Not only did she accomplish that goal, but she also hit a PR in all 3 events.
Yvonne was unsure of her abilities to participate in TSC, but she is now feeling strong and looking forward to the next challenge.
When asked about her results, Yvonne says, "I am deadlifting more than I ever imagined (235lbs). I'm able to get through a sn**ch sprint without bruising my arms. Who'd have thought that was possible? And I'm starting to be able to do a bent arm hang. If you know me, that's a big deal."
When asked how she feels now, Yvonne said "Thanks to Coach Jen, I am able to participate in TSC, but more importantly I can easily lift and toss around my grandchildren without paying for it the next day. She knows the protocol to follow to help me reach my goals and provides quality adaptions for movements I'm unable to perform. Thank you, Coach Jen and Forward Fitness."
Congratulations, Yvonne. we look forward to seeing what you accomplish next!

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT!
We are excited to talk about Kait today. Kait joined Forward about 2 years ago with a weight loss goal in mind. Annnnd she worked really stinking hard at it! Kait showed up to all her sessions and classes and killed it
Kait then became interested in the Tactical Strength Challange and again worked super hard and competed in 3. Her last one she switched to the 16kg at the last minute just to prove to herself she could it.
After TSC, her main focus shifted to becoming stronger! And again, that's what she did. She signed up for her first rookie meet, worked her buns off for weeks, and competed last Saturday, leaving with 2 new PR's and a silver metal.
We love having Kait at Forward and can't wait to see what she does next!

Today's workout: 10 to 1, 1 to 10
10 x Swings
1 x Push up, then 9 and 2, 8 and 3 until you are at 1 swing and 10 push-ups.
Repeat sequence with goblet squats and rollouts.
Join us on Saturday, Sept. 30th for a hike!
The hike will begin at 9 am. The loop is 4.6 miles in the nine mile area. Family, friends, and dogs are welcome. Leave your cats at home 😂😜.

Did your gym routine slip during the summer?
Summer can get crazy for some people with vacations, bbqs, family, and kids being home. We tend to get out of routine, and when that happens, the gym is one of the first things to go.
There is no better time than now to get back at it!

Blueberry Biscuits
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven 425 degrees, spray baking sheet
2. 1 1/3 cup of Kodiak Protein Pancake Mix
3. 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
4. 3/4 cup fresh blueberries
5. Combine almond milk and Kodiak mix, and mix until a sticky batter forms.
6. Fold in blueberries. Using a spoon, scoop batter into 2 inch mounds onto the baking sheet.
7. Makes about 7 biscuits
8. Bake 11-13 minutes.
9. Let cool, add a teaspoon of a lite margarine spread, or I used a little maple syrup.
I made these Sunday and topped with a little maple syrup! So good 👍
Member spotlight:
Phillip started at Forward in September 2022, and over the last year, he has gone from 207 lbs to 150 lbs. That's 57lbs! He achieved this by staying consistent with his workouts and sticking to a balanced nutrition plan. Not everything has been perfect, but he hasn't taken any shortcuts.
Pictures spaced roughly a year apart one shows someone with a flawed diet, no exercise routine, and little activity. The other picture is someone who eats a balanced diet, tracks calories, and does some form of exercise or activity multiple times a week.
This wasn’t just a short-term plan. This is what changing your lifestyle can look like.

Remember, staying consistent through the summer months means you will not be feeling like you are starting over in the fall.
Here are some helpful hints to stay on track:
- Register and/or schedule your workout times in advance.
- Find an accountability partner.
- Don't feel bad for making plans around your workout times. Make it important to you.
- Answer your check-in coaches' text when they are trying to keep you on track 🤣.

SQUATS!
When squatting you want to make sure you are staying tight the entire time, pulling yourself down into the squatting position with a momentary pause the bottom. To come up grind your feet into the ground (activate glutes) with hips and knees fully extended at the top.
