Skyhawks Ultimate Sports
Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. For this program, our patient and knowledgeable staff play a variety of fast paced, cooperative team games focused on hand eye coordination. Proper throwing and catching techniques are taught and practiced while learning the games of Ultimate Frisbee, Ultimate Handball, Ultimate Football, and various versions of Capture the Flag.
Participants should bring multiple water bottles, two snacks, sunscreen and wear appropriate athletic attire.
Every child receives an award certificate and Skyhawks t-shirt.

Skyhawks Tennis
Whether your child is a beginning or intermediate player, this program will improve their game and help them get more enjoyment from tennis. Our tennis programs focus on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, well-rounded tennis players. Skyhawks staff also instill positive life skills such as respect and sportsmanship.

Skyhawks Field Hockey
Explore the exciting world of Field Hockey with Skyhawks, partnered with USA Field Hockey to bring this global sport to your community. Our program is ideal for beginners, whether familiar with the sport or new to it. Our coaches, using a curriculum developed by USA Field Hockey, create a fun and engaging learning experience. They teach fundamental skills such as stick handling, dribbling, passing, and receiving in a playful and inclusive setting. Field Hockey is a sport for everyone, enjoyed by both boys and girls around the world, and our program celebrates this inclusivity. Join us for games, teamwork, and lots of laughter, as we introduce age-appropriate activities and strategies.
Participants may bring their own sticks but sticks will be provided for those who do not have them.

Skyhawks Basketball
This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progression-based curriculum, we focus on the whole player - teaching sportsmanship and teamwork. Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, rebounding and defense through skill-based instruction and small-sided scrimmages.
Participants should bring a water bottle, two snacks, lunch for the full day session, sunscreen and wear appropriate athletic attire.

Skyhawks Beginning Golf
Skyhawks Beginning Golf is powered by Payne Stewart Golf Experiences, the recommended entry-level golf program for PGA Junior Golf Camps. The unique, games-based play program and modified learning equipment make it easier for kids to hit the ball and experience early success. Putting, chipping, pitching and full swing, are all taught through games, simple repetitive motions and learning rhymes that make it easy for young kids to remember and repeat.
Specially designed, age-appropriate golf equipment is provided. Participants MAY NOT bring their own equipment.

C Academy- Filmmaking
Filmmaking 101: June 24-28, 2024 (ages 10-14)
In this class, students will bring creativity to life in a fun, collaborative and exciting environment. They will learn skills in scriptwriting, storyboard sketching, improvisation, and camera skills. Students who have previously participated in our program will be able to expand on their filmmaking skills. Together they will write, shoot and edit a film in a genre of their choosing and edit their project together using the professional editing software Adobe Premiere.
Filmmakers Collaborative will provide all necessary equipment for the class to run.
Stop-Motion Animation*: July 22-26, 2024 (ages 10-14)
For our Stop-Motion Animation class, students will learn the principles of Animation and create their own short film using various materials provided by FC Academy and objects found around the house. Students will learn to explore their creativity and storytelling skills while also implementing filmmaking techniques such as editing, camera use, and directing.
*This course requires a touch screen device with access to the free app Stop Motion Studio.
*All films made in these classes will be submitted to the Boston International Kids Film Festival for a chance to be selected and screened at the festival in November of 2024!*

BOOT CAMP
Boot Camp Classes Offered by Carroll Fitness LLC
Looking to squeeze in a quick full-body workout in your hectic schedule? Interested in a class that offers a mixture of cardio and strength training? Want to have some fun working out alongside your friends? Look no further than the new boot camp class being offered by Stow resident, Liz Carroll of Carroll Fitness LLC! These 25–30-minute classes offer high intensity interval training (HIIT) as well as strength training. All are welcome regardless of workout experience, and the instructor will offer modifications based on all fitness levels! The workout is completely bodyweight, and all you will need to bring is a towel/mat, water, and a great attitude!
Cost: $15 per person
IMPORTANT: Anyone participating in these classes MUST sign a waiver before attending class. Waiver only needs to be signed once - you don’t need to sign the waiver before each class. Carroll Fitness LLC has a separate waiver for Adults and Minors.
About Liz Carroll, Carroll Fitness LLC
Liz Carroll is a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and owner of Carroll Fitness LLC. She has been teaching boot camp classes at a local gym and also offers 1-1 personal and small group training. Liz has lived in Stow since 2011 with her husband and son. When she’s not training clients, she enjoys working out, hanging out with family/friends, and watching her son play hockey and lacrosse.

WATERFRONT DIRECTOR
Pine Bluff Recreational Area
Description: Seasonal 9 Week Program (June 17, 2024-August 16, 2024); 35-40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $20.59 to $22.18 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience.
Stow Recreation is seeking a Seasonal Waterfront Director responsible for overseeing the waterfront
activities. Through planning, training, and supervising staff, the Waterfront Director provides a
waterfront that is safe, fun, and appropriate for swimmers and staff. Includes management to the
physical operation of the waterfront’s facilities and equipment.
Essential Functions:
• Coordinate swimming lessons at all levels for all ages.
• The Waterfront Director will be a lifeguard and teach swimming lessons when needed.
• Must plan and organize all program activities and staff scheduling, including staff training.
• Supervise the lifeguards in seeing that the buoy lines, teaching stations, first aid supplies, kick
boards, and other materials are available for use before the program begins and must also
see that all equipment is stored at the end of the season.
• Conduct weekly training for all lifeguards to attend.
• Ensure the beach is clean and safe, maintain beach related equipment.
• Communicate with parents working as a liaison between the WSI and parents.
• Enforce Stow Recreations Rules and Regulations to patrons at the waterfront, as well tostaff when
needed.
Qualifications: The Director must have a current WSI Certification and teaching experience (2-3 years
preferred). A current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certification required. The Director should have some
familiarity with the mechanics of organizing and administering a large community swim program.
• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Must be 21+ to be considered for this position.
• Ability to swim distances of 500 yards.
• Must possess the mobility to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, bend, climb, push, and pull materials
and equipment, and swim with protective equipment.
• Vision and hearing must be sufficient to see and hear adults and children in crowded and
noisy conditions and/or situations.

SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR
Pine Bluff Recreational Area
Description: Summer, Seasonal 9 Week Program (June 17, 2024-August 16, 2024); 35-40 hours per week

Stow Recreation is seeking a dynamic Director to lead our Summer Camp at Pine Bluff Beach.
Applicants must possess a high energy level, a strong work ethic, and administrative experience. The
Summer Camp Director will be responsible for extensive planning prior to the start of the camp. Under
the direction of the Stow Recreation Director this position will provide leadership and program
responsibility for Camp Stow. The Director is expected to manage a 9-week program with 50-100
children and a staff of 10- 20 people. This position is responsible for the implementation and planning
of daily activities as well as supervision of seasonal staff.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years in a supervisory role in a camp setting.
• Knowledge of the philosophy, objectives, and requirements in the implementation of youth
programs and summer camps; the concepts of program risk management and safe work
practice; supervision and leadership techniques; and basic Windows, Microsoft Office and
web-based program applications are required.
• The ability to communicate effectively and possess excellent interpersonal skills while
interacting with program participants, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the general
public; to plan, promote, organize, and evaluate recreation services for Summer Camp
program; and to handle and prioritize multiple tasks are highly recommended.
• Previous experience in summer camp management and completion or education towards a
degree in the recreation field, four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or
university, or equivalent experience is needed. Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications, and
WSI certification and waterfront experience are highly recommended.

On May 22nd, town officials and our consultants, BSC Group, Inc., will be hosting an in-person presentation of the draft Climate Resilience Master Plan for the 110-acres of the Stow Acres North Course acquired by the Town for conservation and recreation purposes. This wonderful Water Fitness class at Pine Bluff Beach is a fun, re-energizing, total body workout for all ages and fitness levels. You can exercise with minimal stress to your joints, while enjoying fresh air and the beautiful surroundings of spring-fed Lake Boon. Water exercise naturally supplies cushioning & support; a safe, therapeutic, massaging effect, as it stimulates circulation and connective tissue, too. Improve your cardiopulmonary system (heart and lungs), muscular strength and endurance, as well as flexibility, range of motion, and balance! While focusing on good body alignment, you will improve posture, core strength, and decrease back tightness. Pace yourself for a safe, yet challenging workout! You will leave class feeling stronger, more balanced, refreshed, and focused! Decrease body aches and stress, while clearing your mind and having fun! We are mainly sitting on a noodle, but all exercises can be modified to suit your needs, for example, you can be standing on the ground, if you prefer. Water shoes are optional. Yvonne Grenon Benelli has been a Fitness Instructor, designer and coordinator of many different exercise programs and facilities throughout New England, New York and abroad since the late 1970's. She works with all ages and fitness levels in various exercise classes including current classes in AquaCize (pool and lake), Stott Pilates, NouVonne Total fitness, Outdoor Exercise year-round, COA, and Personal Training/ Privates. Yvonne has an M.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology and a B.S. in Physical Education. She is Stott Pilates Trained and was an American Red Cross CPR Instructor for over 30 years.
