Worshipers targeted by gift card scam We’re seeing a new spin on gift card scams. This time, scammers are pretending to be a pastor, rabbi, priest, imam, or bishop.

Join us Saturday, June 8 for the DC Pride Festival and Parade! There are two ways to volunteer. Provide radical hospitality at Foundry, passing out water and lemonade on the plaza, or march in the parade with other UM Churches. Registration for both options is open. Beginning June 25, Foundry will read with elementary-aged students each Tuesday morning. This is a great way to help students at critical reading learning age to help fight the “summer slide.” You can help by offering a few hours (9:30 to 11:30 a.m.) on one Tuesday or more to read with kids or have them read to you. Volunteers can be as young as 14, and we can coordinate for transportation. Email [email protected] with questions or register at foundryumc.org/project-transformation.

Join our Sacred Resistance Team this Thursday, June 6, from 10 AM to noon at the Wilson Building as they partner with The Way Home: Ending Chronic Homelessness in DC and advocate for housing vouchers for our neighbors.

Congratulations to former Foundry member Rev. Chet Jechura on his ordination today in the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church! Rev. Jechura is the pastor of Good Shepherd UMC in Baltimore. He entered the ordination process through Foundry. Join us in giving a word of congratulations! Foundry UMC offers two types of one-year scholarships — the Alida Smith Memorial Scholarship for undergraduate or graduate students at any institution (Community colleges, 4-year institutions, or graduate institutions) and the Edward W. Bauman Scholarship for those attending seminary and planning to enter Christian ministry upon graduation. Any student who is a member of, or closely associated with, Foundry United Methodist Church can apply. The application deadline is May 31, 2024. See foundryumc.org/scholarships.
