We are seeking friendly, organised and reliable individuals to join the YogaSpirit team in a trade exchange: studio support in lieu of unlimited monthly yoga!
We require both desk assistance and help with clean-up and tidying after classes. This is the perfect opportunity for people who LOVE yoga and want to maintain a regular practice, but don’t have a spare R1200 lying around each month.
With a very manageable number of work hours per month, this role enables not only unlimited yoga but also teaches valuable skills and serves as a great CV-builder. Please note: reliability (and availability!) is key in this role, as well as a likeable, friendly and confident demeanour.
To apply, please reach out to us at [email protected] for an interview.

“Self-care is how you take your power back" ... and there's no better way to do that than attend a YOGA RETREAT. We invite you to join Kate Ball for Vinysasa and Yin yoga at the luxurious Lavender Farm Guest House in Franschhoek. All levels of practitioner are welcome. Email [email protected] for more details.
Kate has been teaching yoga for almost 18 years and loves sharing this practice which changed her own life and continues to enrich her on a daily basis. She opened YogaSpirit 13 years ago and, prior to 2020, retreats were a big part of the annual calendar. Finally they're back and we'd love to have you along.

Yoga can be simplified to fit any space, whether you’re on a plane or in a car. Simple stretches like neck rolls and seat twists can provide relief and relaxation anywhere.
A part of practicing yoga is adapting to your environment and knowing it’s possible to practice yoga wherever you are.😊 If you’re travelling right now, remember to take your yoga with you!

Yoga has an uncanny way of showing us what’s really important and deserves more of our energy, and equally shows us what deserves less.
Have you noticed that your priorities have changed since you started spending time on your mat?
That’s a sign that yoga is working!
——
Tam makes this version of lotus (Pasmasana) pose look easy…and it is, after you develop flexibility for full lotus (think of tree pose in Hot26 as a good entry point) and the strength to lift off (chaturangas, core work and lots of yoga). Some of us never get there, and that’s more than okay. You can get just as much benefit from a less rockstar pose such as partial sukasana lift, I.e same approach but easy cross-legged pose (sukasana) instead of lotus and maybe your feet stay on the floor and bum lifts only.
Another hot tip: Smile your way through it!
——
Alex, one of our recent Teacher Training graduates, demonstrates both Warrior 1 and Warrior 2 (Virabhadrasana 1&2).
Note the main differences: In Warrior 1, Alex’s hip shines forward towards his big toe and the stance is a little shorter. He does an excellent job of keeping his back foot fully grounded. His gaze is lifted as in traditional Ashtanga.
Warrior 2 has a longer stance with hips opening to the side. ensures a powerful reach through his arms, which is something people often forget about in such a leg-focused posture.
——
In yoga, open palms symbolise openness, receptivity, and surrender. They represent readiness to receive energy and blessings, trust in the flow of life, and offer oneself to a higher purpose.
Embrace this gesture to stay present and open in your practice this week! 🙏⭐️
——
Fadz taking a moment and embodying the serenity and grace she carries with her all day as she holds our yoga studio in her peaceful orb.
Though you might not see her much on the mat (she’s very selective about which classes she practices), Fadz is a true yogi in the way she lives her life.
With us since 2015, Fadz is integral to the YogaSpirit space and brings an energy of warmth and genuine care to our community.

These pictures were from a day on the greenbelt when we had a serious yoga shoot planned.
We envisioned pastoral scenes for the warrior poses, a mountain backdrop for inversions and perfect balanced poses atop fallen tree logs and such.
What we got was not necessarily that. It turned into shenanigans, goofing around, and a whole lot of laughter. We had the best time!
——
Guilia demonstrates Eagle Pose (Garudasana) - a powerful balance and strength-building posture that enhances focus and concentration, as well as offering a fantastic stretch through the hips and shoulders.
Channeling the higher perspective of an eagle, this pose supports in building stability amidst the challenge. 🦅
——
Thando demonstrates two poses in which the use of a block can really support alignment and depth.
First pose: Extended side angle (Utthita Parsvakonasana)
Second pose: Half moon (extended side angle)
Thando is a strategist currently participating in our Yoga Teacher Training. She is strong and kind as she is beautiful.
——
This week, let’s remind ourselves that the journey of the practice is far more important than “achieving” poses.
——
Alignment in yoga isn’t about doing a perfect pose - it’s about doing the pose perfectly for your body.
Keep in mind your specific proportions, abilities and limitations, then work from there.
Yoga is about making a pose the most effective it can be for your body today (not yesterday, not in a year).
Here Kate helps Lucy to access a deeper spinal by opening up through her shoulder at the same time as anchoring her hip.

Full Moon Incoming! And who is this little moon fairy? The first 10 people to guess stand a chance to win a week of free passes to her classes!
Winner will be announced during the course of the week.

Single best way to improve long-term health?
Heartfelt laughter and genuine hugs.
Laughter and love are the ultimate medicine.
When we laugh at life’s quirks, we create a sense of lightness that permeates our perspective.
When we give and receive love, we instantly upgrade our feeling of well-being.
Just as yoga teaches us to find balance on the mat, so too does love and laughter of everyday life teach us to find balance in our heart.
Yoga of the heart ❤️ wins every time.
YogaSpirit is 13 today!! To celebrate, we are giving away one 10 class package, valued at R1350, to one lucky person. Please TAG someone who needs yoga in the comments.
There is no greater blessing than sharing the gift of yoga. 1 comment equals 1 entry for you and your friend. Winner will be announced next week Thursday, April 18th. We look forward to reading your comments! ✨
With love, the YogaSpirit Team 💛

Yoga teaches us how to fully live our lives, rather than losing ourselves in rushing from one thing to the next.
Despite the rush, the busyness of our lives and the to-do-ing that needs to be done; showing up for yourself is often exactly what we need most and arriving on the mat is exactly where we should be.
Our practice holds us amongst the craziness of the day to day, and supports us through the ebb and flow of it all.
Carve out space for yourself and your practice. Come flow with us at YogaSpirit. Schedule in highlights and story.

“Yoga is one of the ways I show love for myself. I feel cared-for and grounded after time spent on my mat.”🧘🏽🧘🏾♀️🧘🏼♀️♥️
Self-love is the foundation of your yoga practice, and is the first-step towards inner peace.
By showing up on your mat and committing to the time you carved out for yourself, you reaffirm to both your body and mind your inherent worth, value and strength. You remind yourself that you are deserving of love, peace and happiness.
This Valentine’s Day, enhance your yoga experience by upgrading to a YogaSpirit mat. Your whole practice will feel different: no more slipping, no more sliding. Besides a non-slip grip, our mats feature a design to assist with body-placement and alignment. Choose from classic black, grounded green or sky blue.
