• • • Living Goddess Series • • •
A four part series of single line women with plant and animal crowns, with the use of recycled paper and natural hand made inks and watercolour.
“Howzit! I am Anji! A South African creative nesting in the Great White North, Canada, with the love of my life and two little children.
My work centres around sustainable art and the convergence of nature and people onto paper. I am deeply inspired by the female form and subtle dance we have with Gaia. I use handmade ink and watercolour paint made by indigenous female artists. I draw and paint on cotton, handmade T-shirt rag (from Quebec) and lastly on found paper. I discovered that during the pandemic while raising children during intense lockdowns that my creative work is what kept me sane, it was an outlet and continues to be.
This series is inspired by my roots in South Africa and the beautiful woman that I see walk this earth everyday. I have incorporated animals, plants and flowers as well as the use of handmade hanji and recycled paper. Inspired by the seasons and my many walks. Lastly, I have incorporated the subtle use of gold leaf in some of the pieces. All of them are painted using handmade natural watercolour made from honey, lightfast pigments and tree sap. I have made this series into limited edition prints, all my prints are made by local print artists in Toronto.
Thanks for stopping by. You can find me on the gram and the link to my Etsy shop. Wishing you a happy and connected creative year.”
