Going Slowly ...
Learning how to slow down is one of the most essential skills that deepens the relationship we have with ourselves, and with others.
When we consciously slow our thoughts, words and actions, we often become more connected to our desires, consciousness, energy and control. This deepened connection is also transmitted to our closest of family and friends.
Slowing down helps us stay connected to conscious movement and thought, making each word or gesture an expression of our depth.
Most of us have experienced the difficulty to connect while our nervous system is revved up, versus when it is slowed and not overstimulated.
Remember, slowing down doesn't equate to dullness. It's about consolidating and channeling our energy in a potent and measured way.
This approach allows us to convey strength and consciousness, all the while cultivating greater trust in ourselves and others through each moment.

"After quitting the job I hated, it seemed like the perfect time to undertake a promise l'd made to myself. The promise, simply put, was to undertake a cleanse and return my body to 'base. The 'whys' are easy to say, but not to solve. Why am I suffering bloating, why does my body ache so much, why does my mood bias negative these days and why is my facial skin so bad? Red brows and eczema for a beard. Not much fun.
As is usual I approached conventional medicine, who prescribed me the 'cures. These 'cures' generally had little to no effect past very short-term. My own food and drink cull produced such mixed results, and was completely unhelpful. It was at this point, I knew I had to get what was 'in', 'out. Returning to 'base!.
Having already been a patient of AWC, I was aware of their outpatient program and the fact they were a trustworthy ethical business. For the most part I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of cleansing, the most challenging obstacle being 'all the things your brain 'wants' are out and all the things your brain and body 'need' are in.

Digest Mindfully …
Optimal digestion is the result of so much more than what happens inside our stomach and intestines.
It begins when we first see our food and start producing saliva in anticipation. Once eating, optimal digestion is more likely to occur when we aren’t distracted and when we are chewing thoroughly. When we are digesting our food properly, we will be far less likely to experience bloating, gas and indigestion.
Putting your cutlery down in between each bite, eating in a comfortable, seated position away from phones, laptops and the T.V. are some simple ways to enhance digestion.
Seemingly small changes often result in big differences, especially when implemented consistently.

‘I was enchanted by the space and Nardia. This atmosphere, this calm, this silence something I hadn’t felt for sometime after being on a ventilator for 16 days with Covid when hospitalised in May. When I came out of hospital, my breathing was very weak. I couldn’t walk 20 minutes without feeling short of breath and fatigued. I was referred to Nardia by a dear friend who thought she and the salt therapy may be able to assist. Nardia took the time and care to sit with me before my session, explain everything in detail, nurture my emotion and tears given my recent ordeal. Feeling Heard Allows Healing …
It is not just the qualification and years of experience that makes for an effective therapist.
We feel there should be more emphasis on the quality of the relationship between the patient and the therapist. A relationship that allows for space and time to delve more deeply into the areas of our life in which we desire guidance.
In this, it’s worth understanding that our heart is such a powerful source of electrical energy, as is our brain. When the electrical waves in our heart and brain are in sync, our bodies enter a state of calm presence.
Recent studies have shown that the most effective moments in clinical therapy tend to occur when these electrical waves are also in sync between the patient and therapist.
This tended to occur when the therapist was listening, rather than speaking.
We believe that most profound impact occurs when a patient is truly heard. A therapists capacity to listen, being in the present moment with their patient, and therefore understanding them better - is invaluable.

As the temperature starts to drop outside, winter produce can support us in feeling energised and warm throughout the next few months. Let the zingy and abundant citrus energise your cells, and the hearty cooked dishes sustain you throughout your days.
We encourage you to introduce some of the following seasonal fruits and veggies into your kitchen:
Fruit: apples, pears, cumquats, grapefruit, oranges, tangelos, persimmons, lemons, limes, quinces and avocado.
Vegetables: beetroot, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, peas, artichoke, kale, okra, radish, potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, swede, turnip, onions and garlic.
Remember, eating with the seasons often means you will be eating with a focus on sustainability, supporting local farms - with the added benefit of fresher, tastier produce!

Honey - the miraculous herb!
There are live enzymes in honey - when in contact with a metal spoon, these enzymes die.

This word has become ubiquitous. Prompts to be mindful seem to be touted throughout books and modern media, often solely relating to mindfulness internally OR in the mind, and relating solely to the practice of meditation.
Mindfulness as we encourage and practice - is the simple process of actively noticing things, no meditation required. When mindful, we notice things we didn't notice before, and we come to see that we didn't know the things we thought we knew as well as we thought we did. Everything becomes interesting and potentially useful in a new way.
Embracing this concept of mindfulness unlocks a realm of possibilities for effectively managing our health, allowing us to harness the transformative potential of a mindful body with ease.

‘I have been regularly visiting Adelaide Wellness Clinic for over 6 months now, mostly doing organic coffee infusions with the lovely ladies Nardia and Alex, but also for infrared sauna and salt cabin sessions. Kissing and hugging your partner, family or friends goodbye for a little longer each day has been shown to increase life span by at least 4 years.
We love giving our patients a hug before they leave our space if they need it. When at home in your own space, we recommend extending the length of your goodbye hug.
Forget the quick peck, and go for a lingering, meaningful gesture. A 6 second kiss or 20 second hug has much more potential. In this extended exchange you will be secreting oxytocin, which promotes the sense of psychological safety, connection and bonding.
Human connection is such a significant component of deep healing - come, let us hold space for you.

‘Sometimes a diagnosis kicks you into the action that you know you’ve been needing to take for some time.
Mine was the big ‘C’! (Stage 1). I’m an introvert and regimented in my ways and have been for years. Early to rise, coffees, ci******es, and at the desk slogging away for long hours. When I spoke quietly about my diagnosis to a close friend, I was referred to see Nardia. I am not going to lie, I was a little sceptical, although I had experienced colonic irrigation many years ago.
Entering the clinic, I was nervous and agitated - yet immediately hit with a sense of calm. I was greeted by Lili, this angelic warm, gentle, nurturing nature - I felt even more at ease. Then, I was hit by the next level of this with Nardia - paired with a knowledge, experience, wisdom and honesty that was required albeit delivered with a smile, always a smile. I very quickly realised this was not just about colonic irrigation.
I wanted everything, all of the answers, all of the knowledge and all of the treatments, the programs that I heard about. With a gentleness I was advised that this may not be the best approach for me. I was very quickly informed that whilst we cannot wait, and we need to take action, we also need to take an individual case by case approach. In other words “slow down”. I asked many questions and they were welcomed, which felt foreign to me. I felt like I was being heard.
I took on what was suggested to me in our first session, starting with hydrating my body properly and specifically to me, a referral to someone who could help me with my smoking, a longer series of colonics on a very regular basis, and off I went nervous but determined.
Through each of my colon hydrotherapy sessions with Nardia I was guided through small and achievable changes with my nutrition, some funky massage and work being done on my abdomen, the time to speak, the time to listen and the time for silence. Somehow, this powerful gift that Nardia has to deliver what is required without even asking.
11 months has passed and I am now free of the big ‘C’, I am 28kg down, I no longer smoke, I no longer take medication for anxiety, cholesterol or high blood pressure.
I am no longer existing, I am living.

Seeing to self requires honesty …
This means taking the actions that help you in the truest sense. Look after yourself as you would somebody else.
Movement and nutrition aren’t forceful or restrictive when seeing to self. Movement is self care, and nutrition is nourishment. You listen to the signals from your body, and respond accordingly.
Our bodies are wise, but so are we. When we are honest with ourselves, we can tune into what’s needed in the moment.
True self love is honest and must be at the centre of how you treat your self and your body. This will bring sustainability, balance and contentment.

As we head towards winter solstice here in the southern hemisphere, and as daylight hours begin to dwindle, we thought it an especially important time to note the value of healthy sunlight exposure.
To list a few benefits, appropriate sun exposure:
