This recipe is super simple but so nourishing for your Gut this recipe makes up a decent batch of chocolate that you can cut up into bite size squares and enjoy anytime you need a bit of extra assistance with regularity.

Cacao Chocolate Melts- excellent source of magnesium, iron and vitamin E as well as containing antioxidants which help lower inflammation in the body.

Coconut Sugar- because who doesn’t need some sweetness in their life but it also contains a small amount of inulin a prebiotic fibre which keeps your gut happy.

Coconut Oil- increases levels of healthy bacteria in the gut and contains anti-bacterial properties which can restore a healthy balance of gut bacteria.

Celtic Sea Salt- contains an abundance of essential minerals providing electrolyte balance.

Method- using a stainless steel bowl over a saucepan of boiling water, add all ingredients into the bowl and stir until all ingredients are melted and sugar is dissolved this can take 10-15 minutes depending on temp used….once all melted pour into a lined baking tray and refrigerate until set…once set cut up into bite size pieces and store in refrigerator.

You can try adding different ingredients to the chocolate recipe if you like.

I hope you enjoy this recipe I know your Gut will 😊

HTMA is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, it is where using a small amount of your hair we can test for mineral deficiencies, and reflects the level of nutrients and toxic elements.
It’s a fantastic method of testing as it’s non invasive and thorough. Minerals are essential for health, healing and wellbeing and provide support for all bodily functions. If you have tried different methods, supplements to regain health and vitality and still coming up with no results then perhaps a HTMA may benefit you to take away the guess work and regain your spark.

Magnesium what form are you taking?
What form have you tried?
Did you find it beneficial? Or did you notice no difference at all?
Too often I hear the latter which then leads me to my question which ones have you tried?

You see magnesium comes in a range of different forms and some are more easily digested and absorbed than others, so if you have tried magnesium before with little to no benefit then perhaps you should give a different type a go and see the improvements 😊

Sleep is regulated by our body’s circadian rhythm and controls our sleep wake cycle, the natural light-dark cycles of our day helps to regulate this.
having exposure to the early morning sunlight helps this process along as it aids melatonin production. I like going for my walks early for this reason, it also helps to wake me up 🥱
Also lowering our level of blue light exposure will also assist melatonin production. Blue light exposure reduces the amount of melatonin we produce resulting in difficulties falling and staying asleep.
I hope you find this information useful 😀

Below are some ideas for creating space for a better nights sleep. Turning off all electronics earlier in the evening leads to a calmer mind, just as kids have a wind down routine before bed so should us adults as it gives our body the message that it’s time to wind down and switch off.

The brassica family of vegetables are one of the most nutrient dense foods you can eat, they are packed full of vitamins and minerals and disease fighting phytochemicals

Brassicas contain key nutrients that assist with phase I and II liver detoxification.
Brassicas help to balance oestrogen levels and alleviate symptoms associated with oestrogen dominance including PMS, weight gain, irregular and heavy periods.
Brassicas hormone balancing effect is due to a substance called indole-3-carbinol which helps to regulate oestrogen metabolism.

Some people can experience digestive disturbances like bloating and excess gas so just be mindful of the amount of brassicas you eat in one sitting, this is due to the high amount of sulphur they contain and sulphur is broken down in the large intestine, it is also due to the bacteria that feed off the fibre in the large intestine.
Sipping on apple cider vinegar before a meal or taking a digestive enzyme can assist with digestion improving side effects, but don’t let this put you off, brassicas are amazing for not only our gut health but for our overall well-being

How is your gut functioning?

A properly functioning gut is vital for optimal health.
Since brain and gut health are linked it’s important that we nourish and feed ourselves properly…is there any area of your life you could improve in order for this to happen?
Start small, any steps are better than none 😊

If you are stressed about the food your about to eat causing you symptoms then you are almost guaranteed to get those symptoms you’ve been trying to avoid.
Mindset is everything and relaxing before you eat helps considerably.
One way is taking 5 deep breaths before you eat to really relax your nervous system, take time and don’t rush down your food.
Remember variety with our food is everything in order to have a happy healthy gut 🌸

05/07/2021

I see so many people worried about the calorie content or macro breakdown of the food they are consuming that they end up making food choices based on that solely.

Creating a healthier mindset and relationship with what we consume is so important not just nutritionally but emotionally and mentally

Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are a class of drugs whose main action is to suppress and control stomach acid. Some popular PPIs include Nexium(esomeprazole)and Somac(pantoprazole) etc.
These class of medications are known for their nutrient depletion as they lower the acidity in the stomach which in turn effects how we absorb our nutrients from what we ingest. We also need acidity in the stomach to protect against harmful bacteria and microbial overgrowth. There are certain factors that need to be taken into consideration here like Barrett’s esophagus, GERD, Ulcers etc.
In cases like these you need to work with a healthcare professional to help understand and address the root cause of your symptoms to start the steps to healing your stomach and esophagus.

There are many things we can do to heal the gut and treatment will all be dependant on the severity and duration the symptoms have been around.

It doesn’t matter how little the steps you take are, as long as you’re taking the steps.

I’m not talking about the short term effects I’m talking about the long term effects that eating a limited diet may have on your gut microbiome.
Being mindful that we have hundreds of different types of bacteria in our gut and that they all feed off of different polyphenols we get from eating plants. If we restrict certain foods then we are also restricting the food source for certain bacteria.
As these plants contain a lot of fibre initially it can cause gastrointestinal symptoms when they’re resumed because “ if you’ve been eating a limited amount of foods then you’ve been feeding a limited amount of bacteria”, so resuming those foods can cause initial bloating, gas etc.
I’m not saying there’s not a place for these different diets I’m just saying that we must be mindful of our microbiome before embarking on a restrictive diet.

We all hold answers within ourselves 🥰

How do you fuel your day? I try to incorporate as much colour as I can to my meals, this breakfast is really yum and so easy🌸 I think it’s important when we eat we should be focusing on the nutrition of the food ( well at least 80%of the time anyway 😉)
