Natural immunity is so important. But it doesn't get talked about as much as it should. Zinc however, has been flying around a bit in the last few years. And there's a good reason for it.

DID YOU KNOW?
*Zinc is crucial for the normal development and function of white blood cells. These cells protect your body from infection.

*Zinc is heavily involved in wound healing and skin health.

*Increased Zinc levels activate T cells. And T cells are responsible for fighting off all kinds of infections like bacteria and viruses.

*90% of zinc is found in muscle and bone.

*Zinc binds to protein. Low protein means low zinc absorption and yep! You guessed it! High protein = high zinc absorption. This is why zinc supplements are best taken with a protein meal.

🍋It's the best get up and go breaky isn't it? As a mum of two little one's it's an easy way of ensuring me and my kids get a nutritional start to the day.

🥝However, not consuming a smoothie right can have negative affects on our health.

👉Tip 1 - Drink it room temp
Cold foods shock the digestive system, take longer to digest which leaves the food sitting in your stomach, causing it to ferment. This leads to bloating, pain and discomfort, among other things. Not a great start to the day 😕. Warm foods enhance digestion and circulation. Now that's what we want! 👌

👉Tip 2 - Protein for breakfast
Cortisol (a stress hormone) peaks in the morning. High sugar breakfasts cause a dramatic spike in blood sugars, then a crash! Leading to a real sluggish start to the day 👎. Protein in the morning reduces cortisol back to normal in a more stable and regulated manner. This is SO important for stabilizing blood sugars so you are feeling energetic, mentally sharp and ready for the day ahead 😀. This also leads to less cravings and snacking at the end of the day. WIN 🙌

👉Tip 3 - sip it slowly
While chewing our food our saliver and pancreas produce enzymes that breakdown our food. This is essential for digestion. Not chewing enough can lead to the negative symptoms stated above due to the food not breaking down and sitting in the gut fermenting. Even though smoothies are blitzed we still need to activate our digestive enzymes to make sure its being digested properly.

So.. moral of the story 👇
