We are seeing an alarming amount of people who come to us with injuries.

A bad back, very little mobility/stability & lack of energy is becoming the new normal.

Pain shows up to tell us โ€œwe have an imbalance, disharmony, dis ease!

Most of us fall into the trap of over training with an excess of โ€œyangโ€.

In fact our entire lives have an excess of yang.

Yang = compression, impact, tension, resistance.

From things like running, lifting, HIIT and so on.

Yin = Decompression, release, mobilisation, stretching etc. Think yoga, stretching, mobility work, Breathwork and meditation.

Excess yang produces excess inflammation, can exhaust the nervous system and nature will force a yin balance (bad back, stiffness, sickness etc)

Itโ€™s in perfect union of these forces that we create harmony, balance, flow and longevity.

And hereโ€™s the kicker, you actually increase performance.

New results requires new thinking.

TRAINING FOR LONGEVITY

Lifting weights is awesome.

But what if I told you doing some mobility work and throwing in cardio from time to time would actually make you STRONGER.

Improved mobility = movement through a greater range of motion = more strength.

โŒ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The problem with focusing on cardio without lifting weights is that youโ€™ll eventually lose muscle.

You wonโ€™t look toned. To look toned you need enough muscle to give your limbs shape.

โŒ ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

Focusing just on yoga (or Pilates) is another issue I see all the time, especially with those who are either scared that weights will make them bulky, or are too intimidated to lift weights.

Yoga has a TON of benefits. You should do it, or at least spend time doing mobility work on a consistent basis.

But it doesnโ€™t have the same muscle-preserving or strength-building effects that strength training has.

โœ… ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

โœ… Lifting weights 2-4x per week
โœ… Cardio & Conditioning 2-3x per week
โœ… Yoga/Pilates 2-3x per week
โœ… Mobility/Injury prevention 2-3x per week
โœ… Daily Walking

And look: if you wanna focus more on one kind of workout than another because you enjoy it more, awesome. Go for it.

Just donโ€™t let โ€œI donโ€™t enjoy itโ€ as an excuse to avoid doing what you need to do!

Lifting weights is incredible for strength.
Yoga & Meditation is the key ingredient to a strong mind, body & spirit.
Conditioning & cardio is healthy for the heart.
Mobility is most neglected modality and is one of if not the most crucial for injury prevention.
Pilates enhances flexibility, strength, posture, and core stability.
