Why stretching is important? 🙌

Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.

Regular stretching keeps muscles long, lean, and flexible, and this means that exertion "won't put too much force on the muscle itself," says Nolan. Healthy muscles also help a person with balance problems to avoid falls.

Why is it important to warm up? 🏃‍♀️🏃

Warming up helps prepare your body for aerobic activity. A warmup gradually revs up your cardiovascular system by raising your body temperature and increasing blood flow to your muscles. Warming up may also help reduce muscle soreness and lessen your risk of injury.

Here are some examples of warm-up exercises:

💪 To warm up for a brisk walk, walk slowly for five to 10 minutes.
💪 To warm up for a run, walk briskly for 5 to 10 minutes.
💪 To warm up for swimming, swim slowly at first and then speed up as you can.

Why train during the morning? 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Exercising early in the morning offers both physical and mental gratification. Training can boost metabolism, ensuring that calories are being burnt during the day. Exercise also promotes endorphins in the brain, which can elevate an individual’s mood and help them start their day off on a positive note.

Some of the benefits of an early morning workout include:

🌞 Loosening up the joints and muscles
🌞 Allowing the heart to gradually adjust to increasing activity and raising the blood flow.
🌞 Helping the heart to send the proper amount of oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells
🌞 Preparing the nervous system for the rest of the day

Life balance seems to be the topic on everyone’s mind of late. 💪

A well-balanced person has a far greater ability to focus their attention and energy on attaining their goals, taking productive actions, and moving forward in a meaningful way.

But sometimes can be a little overwhelming when someone wants to take up healthier habits and starts receiving a lot of information all at the same time.

The key is not to try to change everything at once, but to make small adjustments over time to determine what works for you.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have celebrated EIGHT session attendance milestones in the house🏡💫🤸🏻‍♀️

From hitting the 1st 50 session milestone…. right up to SIX HUNDRED SESSIONS!!🥇🎈🏆

Given the massive changes we’ve experienced over the last couple of months, it has been absolutely incredible to see so many of you maintain your commitment on Zoom every morning, especially so, because it is has taken A LOT of mental and physical readjustment to do so.

There are so many of you in the group who have overcome personal, mindset or environmental hurdles in order to adapt to our live stream online sessions and maintain your daily commitment. Such incredible individual achievements and something you all should be incredibly proud of when you consider the journey it has taken to get here.

I am so proud.

I hope you’re wearing your air medals with pride!!🥇❤️

Zooming in to train the troops from Centennial Park early this morning, 🎥🌱🦜 and it was noticeably quieter than it’s been for weeks.

Shortly after 7.15am, the sound of bagpipes filled the air.

It was so extraordinary (and unexpected), I feel deeply grateful that I was one of the lucky few who had the joy of hearing it 🙏🏼💫

What a truly magnificent start to the day. I smiled the whole way home🤸🏻‍♂️🎈💚

(Pls note that the “end result” was not actually this straightforward and followed getting ‘caught in action’ 😮doing a skirmish thro the rose gardens with 2 kettlebells to get the ‘perfect picture’ 📸😬🙈 I DIED.

Ps. His name is Michael (he’s not on Instagram [yet!] and you can find him in the rose gardens 🌹🥀under the tree🌴😊

Truly blessed and incredibly lucky to have the outdoor space to be able to implement the appropriate 'social distancing' in all of our training sessions at the moment.

If and until that changes, we’ll be training as usual every morning down at our usual spot, rain, hail or shine.

So great to be able to stop for a moment of gratitude this morning, take a breath and say a thank you for a moment of peace amongst the chaos.

Beachside Bootcamp are an outside group training community. All hand held equipment was removed from our timetables last week and we are fortunate enough to have the space 🌱to implement ‘social distancing’ easily, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for everyone 🙏🏼

As we facing the uncertainty of the days/weeks ahead, it is imperative to remember that our mental wellness and headspace remains just as, if not more so important as our physical wellbeing.

For many of us, life as we know it, is going to take a lot of readjustment. For many, ‘working from home’ has become mandatory with immediate effect.

In order to maintain our physical & mental wellbeing (and keep our immune systems at their peak), it is imperative that daily exercise / training & the daily interaction you would normally have with people, still remains an integral part of your day whether you are working from home or "rostered on" at work in small groups working in a 2 week rotation.

Working out outside is currently much safer than working out in an enclosed environment but the fact remains that it is imperative to do whatever it takes to care of your body AND mind during this time.

Here at Beachside Bootcamp, we believe that the mental wellbeing from a training session far outweighs the physical in setting up your headspace for the rest of the day.

Not only are you done and dusted before the working day has begun, you’re outside in a group of likeminded people in a fun and safe environment.

Our 2 timeslots every morning (6am-7am or 7.10am-7.55am) allow our members the later start if they are working from home or means that both parents can train and simply do a “kid switch” in between!!

COVID-19 update at Beachside Bootcamp

Following on from all recent post sesh comms and the daily changes / updates on COVID-19, here is an update on the measures we are taking to continue to ensure a safe and hygenic training environment for everyone while we navigate our way through the uncertainty of the days and weeks ahead.

By following the guidelines below, we can continue to train as we do every morning in the great outdoors, maintain our consistency (not only for our physical wellbeing but for our mental wellbeing too) and continue to keep our immune systems functioning at the highest levels possible.

Re EQUIPMENT sessions moving forward..

As well as hospital grade disinfectant, wipes & hand sanitiser, you will now also find boxes of disposable gloves in the main box should you wish to use them on equipment days.

We are considering taking equipment off the timetable for the new few weeks & introducing training sessions on our equipment days that are body weight / agility / soft sand or interval based. We will confirm our decision in the next 48 hours.

Having nature’s playground as our daily stomping ground, the variety of content is endless .

We are very, VERY lucky!!

MATS :-
From now on, please bring your own mat to training each morning OR a large beach towel to place over our normal mats. Please note that any equipment or mats used at training will be disinfected after every training session

Many companies are asking all employees to work from home with immediate effect for the next couple of weeks (minimum).

In order to maintain our fitness, physical and metal wellbeing (not to mention our immune systems), it is imperative that daily exercise / training and the daily interaction you normally have with people, still remains an imperative part of your day.

If you ARE working from home, don’t forget that you DO also have the later timeslot to choose from.

I am moving the start time from 7.15am to 7.10am and request that YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY 7pm the night before IF YOU ARE ATTENDING.

Because the group is so much smaller (and the rest time much less), the session structure will be 35 to 40 minutes HIIT instead of an hour.

Please ensure you wash your hands BEFORE and AFTER training, that you wear a mask over your mouth if you tend to cough or sneeze in the mornings, try and avoid touching your face with your hands AT ALL and continue to practice extreme hygiene wherever possible.

There are a few members in the group who have been unwell over the last couple of weeks and I deeply appreciate your integrity in considering fellow team members by opting not to train and in some cases, getting yourselves fully checked out to be on the safe side.

It goes without saying that should you feel unwell or feel the need to self isolate, please do not attend training and get medical advice immediately .
