Reading is Magic!! Literature comes to CCC today as we celebrate Book Week with our annual dress up day. As always, the girls and staff have waved their wands and created an amazing spectacle of characters representing all kinds of stories. Reading really is magic, it takes us to places we would not normally get to, it weaves spells and offers experiences that go beyond the realm of our normal days and it has been wonderful to see the creativity of everyone today.
We warmly welcome all parents, carers and guardians to our Parents as Partner Hub Meeting for Term 3 2024. We will be providing an updated overview of our vision/goals for the College and present information about emerging wellbeing issues, feedback on Parent Teacher Interview survey and information around our Learn Plus Diploma program. And that’s a wrap.. A great day was enjoyed by all at Luna Park.
HSC Showcase was a wonderful opportunity for our Music One students to perform two representative works from their practical examination program. Each student is required to perform at least one piece of Music for the practical component of their HSC course. From there, students can go and choose a further three electives from the areas of Musicology, Composition or Performance. We wish our year 12 2024 Music students all the best for their HSC Practical Exams.
Year 11 have arrived and are enjoying all the action Luna Park has to offer.
Thank you to the Year 8 students who volunteered their time to make sandwiches for St Vincent de Paul’s Vinnies Van.
A group of enthusiastic Year 9 students, eager to get their careers 'on the move' have attended the Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Construction (STEMC) Careers Expo at Sydney Olympic Park, hosted by Transport for NSW. This innovative showcase is part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing awareness and participation in STEMC careers, with a special focus on encouraging young women to pursue opportunities in these fields.
The students were given a fantastic forum to engage with STEMC professionals from across Transport for NSW, who showcased real-life examples of the wide range of work disciplines and projects that contribute to the everyday needs of customers and communities across our state.
Through hands-on displays, interactive activities and a fascinating live panel discussion, students immersed themselves in the practical applications of STEMC careers within the transport sector, including: VR training tools, signalling and controls systems and drone applications for Sydney Trains, technology applications in bridges, tunnels and emergency management, the SCATS adaptive traffic system and the critical work in environmental sustainability.
Curiosity and enthusiasm were on full display as students asked thoughtful questions and listened intently to the career stories and pathways shared by industry professionals. It was an inspiring day that opened their eyes to the diverse and exciting career opportunities that await them in this dynamic field.
A huge thank you to Christine Assanti (Regional Industry Education Partnerships, Training Services NSW) for opening up these wonderful opportunities for young women and the talented professionals from Transport for NSW for such a valuable and unique experience for our students!
Year 10 are learning a lot about the importance of safe driving. A confronting and highly informative experience at the Bstreetsmart excursion.

Students also conducted the 'Burn test' to identify fibre content based on the burn, ash and smell of various fabrics.

SPECIAL REPORT: Healthy Study Habits
In today's world, where distractions are abundant and the pressure to excel is high, guiding children to develop healthy study habits is more important than ever. As students aspire to achieve academic success, the cornerstone of that achievement lies not just in their intelligence or drive, but in the study habits they cultivate.
It's essential for students to recognise that good study habits aren't merely about spending extra hours hitting the books. It's more about quality over quantity and having a more balanced approach. Emphasising the value of a routine is essential. Consistent study times establish a sense of structure and discipline, turning studying into a natural part of their daily routine rather than a burdensome task.
Additionally, how students approach their study sessions is equally important. Taking regular breaks is a crucial part of this process in maintaining focus and preventing burnout.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle that includes sufficient sleep, a balanced diet, and consistent physical activity are indispensable elements that will significantly impact your child's ability to study effectively. Fostering these healthy habits is one of the most valuable gifts we can offer children, paving the way for a lifetime of learning and achievement.
This Special Report will help you support your young person as they embark on studying for exams.
