Bede Polding College
At Bede Polding College, we strive to be a dynamic, harmonious Catholic learning community.
This week our U13s and U15s boys represented the College in the Panther Trophy π
The competition saw the boys play against twenty other local Catholic and public schools. The boys played six pool games with little breaks in between and after winning all of these games were sent to the grand final!
Despite a gallant effort both teams were unfortunately defeated with the final scores being:
U15s: 16-6 to Blaxland High
U13s: 24-0 to Riverstone High
Despite not getting the grand final win the boys really enjoyed the day. Weβre extremely proud of their efforts and thankful to the staff that helped make it happen.
During the holidays, Gordon Wilberforce in year 10 was fortunate to participate in a 3 day on-site work experience placement at the RAAF Base in Williamtown.
Gordon was able to speak with pilots, use a flight simulator, learn how Air Traffic Controllers do their work, and how to use the fire fighting equipment with the Fire & Rescue Team. Gordon now has a clear vision and direction for his career moving forward! Well done, Gordon - onwards and upwards from here.! π¨ββοΈβοΈ

π What a fantastic Athletics Carnival we had today! We had sunshine, rain and a rainbow at the end, and we saw some incredible performances.
π’ Congratulations to Yarang House for their win today, and well done to everyone for their participation and individual achievements throughout the day.

CathWest 'Try A Career' Days
Over the last 2 weeks, some students in Years 9 and 10 were given the opportunity to attend a 'Try A Career' Day at CathWest McCarthy Campus and CathWest Loyola Campus. The careers on offer included Carpentry, Automotive, Hairdressing, Electro Technology, Chef and Screen & Media. Students were able to immerse themselves in the workshops and facilities associated with studying these trades at CathWest, and they walked out with some new skills and a greater understanding of their trade!
β This morning we held our Term 2 Careers Breakfast, with a spotlight on Apprenticeships!
β It was a fantastic morning for a large group of students from Year 9-12 and their parents, who gathered to listen to presentations from a variety of tradespeople. We were incredibly fortunate to have 6 Alumni students from the College, who all left school, undertook an Apprenticeship and are now all very successful business owners in their trade. They shared stories and advice on their pathway post-school, allowing students to gain valuable information about the trade and the path they need to take.
β Our guest speakers included: Jake - Plumber, Peter - Electrician/Air Conditioning Mechanic, Will - Builder, Victoria - Hairdresser, Joe - Diesel Mechanic and Sarah - Chef. In addition we were lucky to have Jason from Apprentice Employment Network who explained the process of looking for, applying and commencing an Apprenticeship.
πππ We would like to thank all of our guests for donating their time and sharing their stories with our community - our students will benefit greatly from your advice and we are grateful for your input! Stay tuned for details about our Term 3 Careers breakfast!
