The Department of Economics at Queen’s University invites applications for up to two Weatherall Postdoctoral Fellowships. These are one-year fellowships, commencing on July 1st, 2024, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Postdoctoral Fellows will work under the supervision of a host professor in the Department. While, we are particularly interested in applicants with research and teaching interests in the area of econometrics, applicants in other fields are also encouraged to apply.

The Pathy Foundation Fellowship is an intensive 12-month experiential learning opportunity for graduating students to lead a self-directed project in a community they have a meaningful connection with. Fellows are provided with comprehensive training, personal and professional development coaching, up to $40,000 in funding, and wrap-around supports to design, plan, and implement an innovative project in their community. This year-long Fellowship is designed for students who show a demonstrated capacity and potential to develop and evolve as leaders and change makers and have a meaningful connection with a community of their choosing.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21st, the Department of Political Studies, along with the Electoral Integrity Project, the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations, and the School of Policy Studies present "Citizen Election Observers in Theory and Practice," a panel discussion with Martyna Hoffman and Rebecca Wagner.
This event will take place from 12:00-1:30 PM in Robert Sutherland Hall Room 202, and a light lunch will be served. Registration is not required.

Dr. Kyle Willmott is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Simon Fraser and a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. He is a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation. His research interests are in political and economic sociology, settler colonialism, Indigenous-settler relations, and critical Indigenous policy studies.

On Thursday, January 26th, Michael Murphy (Queen's) will be discussing innovative teaching and active learning in the political science classroom, plus emerging topics such as hybrid learning and assessment in the age of ChatGPT - his research will be of interest to those in other disciplines as well. "Quo Vadis Active Learning? Innovative Teaching in the Political Science Classroom" will take place from 2:30-4:00 PM in Dunning Hall Room 11, and light refreshments will be served.
