In 2022, when this all first started I decided to cut ties with my current government job, keep my kids out of the school system, and go off on my own to painfully carve a new way.

When the dust settled I realized that I had started two new businesses, and I have zero regrets in my decision.

👦 👧 I have developed a microschool located in Metcalfe, Ontario with spaces for kinder to grade 4.

🏫 Our schoolhouse is over 100 years old and located on 150 acres of fields and forests.

👏 This is our second year running and we already have so much planned for this year, I have much more to share but for now, I will tell you that it will be the Hogwarts of microschools in the area!!

🌱They are a rich source of various vitamins, minerals, and beneficial plant compounds, such as isoflavones.

The Earth is like a gigantic battery that contains a natural, subtle electrical charge—a special kind of energy present in the ground. For safety and stability, most everything in the electrical world is connected to it, whether it is an electric power plant or your refrigerator. That’s what the term “grounded” means.

Being grounded also applies to people. When you are electrically grounded, you feel:

🌱Centered
🌱Solid
🌱Strong
🌱Balanced
🌱Less tense
🌱Less stressed

Overall, you feel good. If you have pain, you have less of it, or maybe none at all, when grounded.

Why is it important that my child gets the daily recommended servings of vegetables and fruits?

Fruits and vegetables are high in vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Kids should be encouraged to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables – there is a rainbow of colours to choose from – which provides a rich source of antioxidants, instead of sugary snacks and fast food, which are high in fat and sugar.

The vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables provide the following benefits:

🌱Promote good health and protect against disease, both now and in the future.

🌱To ensure the child’s healthy growth and development.

🌱Strengthen a child’s immune system and help fight illnesses.

🌱There is strong evidence to show that the nutrients found in fruits and vegetables can prevent chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases.

🌱The high-fibre content can aid in the proper function of the digestive system and prevent constipation.

The breath is key. It is the first aspect of our physiology which changes when we are becoming ungrounded.

You may have heard the breath called an ‘anchor’ in meditation.

That’s because it not only helps our awareness anchor into the moment, but it helps to reduce the affects of the trigger that is stimulating the stress response.

Focusing on the out breath is a very easy way to calm the nervous system.

To engage children with focusing on the out-breath, invite them to make a sound and listen to it as they make it (remember to join in!)

Or you can invite them to notice the sensation of their breath on their hands as they breathe out.

Stuck in a mood? Try some of these tips to help elevate your mood!

🕯 Aromatherapy can have some really great mood boosting properties. Try scents like lavender or mandarin to help reduce anxiety and stress.

🎶 Taking some time to listen to your favourites tunes can really help boost your mood. Our brains start to produce chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, which evokes feelings of joy.

📚 Reading has many benefits. It can improve our memory and empathy, which makes us feel better and more positive too.

🪴 If you have a garden or even any house plants, taking some time to water and care for them can improve your mood by connecting you with nature.

🎨 For some people they can express their moods into the atmosphere of a painting. Painting can foster feelings of relaxation, creativity, and inspiration. Studies have shown that painting or looking at art can help reduce stress hormones, while increasing endorphins and dopamine in our brain.

🍉 What you put in your body not only affects your physical health; it can affect your mental health too. Studies have shown that increasing your intake of fresh fruits AND veggies can boost your mood. So indulge in all the seasonal goodies!

💐 Picking fresh flowers bursting of scent is the best kind of aromatherapy. The different scents coming from fresh flowers can help boost your mood, reducing depression and anxiety. Life is short, stop and smell the roses.

👦 👧 Consistency is key when it comes to food.

Kids palettes are growing and changing with them!

If your little one doesn't seem interested in the fruits or veggies you are serving right now, don't make a huge deal or decide for them that they don't like it.

Try serving the food again in the future.
