“...maternal STRESS, EVALUATED BEFORE PREGNANCY, is associated with POOR CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH, measured as glucose levels DURING PREGNANCY,” said study author Lidia Mínguez-Alarcón, Ph.D., of Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Mass. “Our results highlight the importance of considering preconception as a sensitive window of stress in relation to cardiovascular health during pregnancy. A few ways women can lower their stress levels include being more active, avoiding alcohol and drugs, eating healthy and avoiding isolation.”
Women undergoing fertility treatment who are stressed may have heart health issues during pregnancy A new Journal of the Endocrine Society study among women attending a fertility center found that those with more stress before pregnancy had higher blood sugar levels during pregnancy, which is a sign of weaker cardiovascular health.

Acupuncture significantly increases IVF success
Recent research (Meta-analysis published July 2023) has illuminated the tangible benefits of acupuncture in IVF treatments. A systematic review and meta-analysis involving 4,757 participants found that acupuncture:
- Increased implantation rates by 28%
- Increased IVF clinical pregnancy rates by 33%
- Increased live birth rates by 33%
- Decreased the risk of biochemical pregnancies by 51%
The studies have shown that a series of acupuncture in the weeks leading up to retrieval/transfer and acupuncture immediately before and after transfer onsite on transfer day increases IVF/FET success.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an integral part of Yinstill Reproductive Wellness and, because of this, we wanted to share a bit about why we believe in personalized treatments:
We wanted to start off by sharing a quote from a text by Hsu Ta-ch’un in 1757, translated by Paul Unshuld:
‘Illnesses may be identical but the persons suffering from them are different. The...emotions and the...excesses affecting people are not the same. Some people may be strong and others weak as far as their Qi or the condition of their body is concerned. If one treats all those patients who appear to suffer from one identical illness with one and the same therapy, one may hit the nature of the illness, but one’s approach may still be exactly contraindicated by the influences of Qi that determine the condition of the individual patient’s body.’
💕🧑🏻⚕️ Because of this concept, we work closely and carefully with each of our clients to create an individualized treatment plan to get to the root of unexplained infertility, PCOS, and other diagnoses.
📣 It is Infertility Awareness Week! 📣

💁🏻♀️ In Chinese medicine we refer to a frustrated or emotional time as ‘qi’ stagnation. In other words, “blockage”. Easing this stagnation and transforming it into smoother emotions are important in healing and allowing our bodies to settle during a stressful time. Stress hormones such as cortisol are likely running high and this is a time to be compassionate to yourself; allowing your ‘self’ to heal.
🫁 When it feels impossible to start it can be difficult to know what to do first. The first practice that can steer you towards a more balanced state of mind is breath. Deep, meditative breath.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an integral part of Yinstill Reproductive Wellness and, because of this, we wanted to share a little about Springtime with a TCM perspective:
Spring, a time of regeneration, renewal, and new beginnings. In TCM, the Liver, Gallbladder, and the wood element are associated with the Spring season. Here are some tips to transition into the season using TCM theory:
🪵 To support the Wood Element, calm the nervous system and ease into a more relaxed state. Take time during the day to transition between activities, receive acupuncture, listen to soothing music, meditate, or read.
🥬 To support the Liver and Gallbladder, the diet should be the lightest of the year and contain foods that are nutrient dense, such as dark leafy greens.
🍎 If you crave sour foods that may be your Liver communicating that it needs an extra boost, so be sure to include apple cider vinegar and sweet and sour recipes in your diet.
🧘🏾♀️Try to stay calm, especially during the spring. Don’t get caught up in spring’s intense new energies. Take things easy and go at your own pace; take a nice long walk in the park or do other gentle yin exercises to relax your mind, body, and spirit. Let go of any stressful situations that you can and do an activity or hobby that you enjoy.
