New podcast 'Growing Through Goldsmiths' has launched! 🎧💥

Get inspired by stories of Goldsmiths alumni – from their experiences as students to their current careers.

The podcast is hosted by Department of Music, Goldsmiths graduate Kocoa Brown, who leads insightful conversations with alumni from a range of disciplines and backgrounds. She finds out more about where they've been, what they're doing now, and where they're heading next.

Episode 1 features The Department of English & Creative Writing ,Goldsmiths alumnus Johnny Kay. He is currently the Head of Partnerships at football culture platform, VERSUS, and also manages Mercury Prize and MOBO Award-nominated musician, Novelist. Today, we will explore Johnny’s journey since leaving Goldsmiths and look at how those experiences have shaped him into who he is today.

Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths alumnus Kevin Bathman has co-produced 'The Sounds of Christmas from Asia Pacific' - a multilingual and intercultural Christmas song project showcasing the diverse and creative multicultural and multilingual communities in Sydney.

Supported by the City of Sydney program, this groundbreaking community music album project features eight Sydney-based vocalists in eight languages; Samoan, Filipino, Fijian, Indonesian, Tamil, Japanese, Tongan and Mandarin. Significantly, this album project has been produced and recorded during the lockdown in Sydney.

2022 Theme: The hyperlocal and the global 🌎

Goldsmiths was founded in 1891 as a technical College to serve our local community of New Cross in the London Borough of Lewisham. This remains a part of our mission today through our teaching, research, knowledge exchange and public engagement.

For this edition of Goldlink – the hyperlocal and the global – we will examine how Goldsmiths and our alumni, students and staff create change locally and globally through innovative ideas and research while remaining rooted in their local community in New Cross or closer to home.

We are looking for alumni, students and staff who have:
🔸 Made an impact on the local community in New Cross and the London Borough of Lewisham through their work and/or research
🔸 Used what they learned and experiences they have had at Goldsmiths to make an impact on their local community wherever they are in the world
