SGT University Offers Degree Courses in B.ed/M.ed in Gurgaon/Haryana for Students Aspiring for a Br
Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, under the aegis of UDAAN (Best practice initiative of the Department of Special Education), organized an Assessment Camp for Screening and Identifying Specific Conditions in Children with Special Needs on the 16th and 17th May 2024. It was an intensive and immersive program designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students and educators. The primary objective of this camp was to provide participants with hands-on experience, practical skills, and a mindset geared toward innovation and entrepreneurship.
The camp witnessed the participation of 50 children with special needs along with their parents came from different villages that were visited through a series of community outreach programs aimed at connecting village people, including Baslambi, Kheda Khurampur, Gadoli Khurd, Mundakhera, Sultanpur, and Farukhnagar Special School. Children from Literacy India Mission also attended the camp to identify their learning problems. The platform equipped educators with the necessary diagnostic tools, and student-teacher trainees learned to screen and identify specific conditions in children with special needs. These efforts facilitated the exchange of ideas, best practices, and collaboration opportunities among educators from different institutions, community stakeholders, village people etc.
Impact :
Assessment camp fostered enhanced skills and mindsets, students participants gained practical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset that will be an addon to their academic and professional
pursuits. The camp improved the ability of participants to identify and address specific conditions in children with special needs, leading to better support and intervention strategies. The camp is being organized under the expert convenorship of Prof. (Dr.) Madhavi Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Education. Mr. Parveen Kumar Jat, Community Outreach Coordinator, proactively connected and maintained liaison with village people, resulting in the visit of 50 children with special needs. Mr. Abhra Mukhopadhyay and Mr. Chandan Kumar Dubey, Asst. Profs, Faculty of Education, and IIC Faculty coordinator crafted the objective of camp towards entrepreneurship and start-up development. Dr. Neha Sharma, Mr. Ravinder Saini, Dr. Manita Devi, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Ms. Poonam Talwar, Mr. Awadhesh, Mr. Kishan Lal Bairwa, Dr. Sarfaraz Equbal, Ms. Priyanka Yadav, Mr. Shravan Kumar and all other non-teaching staff helped supported the program towards a grand success.
Over two days, a groundbreaking workshop on prototype design, educational technology, and inclusive practices for persons with disabilities and special needs.
Day 1: Infrastructure and Product Design: The first day centered on designing accessible infrastructure and products. The "Modeling of Moisture Distribution in Concrete Structuring" session highlighted how the characteristics of building materials and design impact accessibility. Participants learned about maximizing comfort and mobility for persons with disabilities through innovative architectural approaches.
The "Product Design and Development" program showcased exceptional product designs engineered to enhance independence and quality of life for persons with special needs. Attendees gained insights into user-centric design philosophies.
Day 2: Inclusive Education Through Arts and Technology: Recognizing the convergence of technology, arts education, and accessibility needs, Day 2 featured the "Transforming Waste, Transforming Minds: Inclusive Puppetry Making and Digitized Educational Games" program. Creative solutions like puppetry and digitized learning games were explored as powerful tools to foster inclusive learning environments for children with special needs. The idea of puppet-making was instilled among the participants to foster startups in the related field to empower 21st-century educators.
Overarching Objectives
The two-day workshop championed a multidisciplinary approach driven by creativity and innovation. It aimed to empower teachers, caregivers, and professionals with tailored resources to effectively support learners with unique needs. Equity, inclusivity, and 21st-century skill development were core focuses.
By fostering collaboration across diverse disciplines and sectors, the event facilitated an exchange of ideas and forged partnerships to drive meaningful change in accessibility and innovative inclusive education practices.
The organizers FEDU and FEAT, successfully orchestrated a platform for envisioning barrier-free infrastructure, harnessing technology for inclusive learning experiences, and sparking an enduring commitment to empowering every individual, irrespective of abilities.

On 11th May2024, the Faculty of Education organized a hands-on workshop on "New revolution:Competency Based Assessment:Art of framing questions". Prof Madhavi Sharma welcomed the resource person. Ms. Shalu Mehra, an esteemed resource person, conducted the workshop with great enthusiasm and expertise. She emphasized the significance of integrating technology and innovative pedagogy to cater to the needs of the digital-native generation. Ms. Mehra engaged the participants in hands-on experiences and activities, promoting a student-centered approach to learning.
During the workshop, discussions revolved around the assessment of, for, and as learning, in accordance with the competency-based framework. Students actively participated in the workshop, creating competency-based questions tailored to their respective subjects. The interactive nature of the workshop facilitated a deeper understanding of competency-based assessment principles among the participants.

The Faculty of Education, Department of Special Education, under the aegis of SVSP and IIC, organized a field visit at Gadoli Khurd, the visit focused on screen and identifying children and young adults with special needs. 59 Student-Teacher Trainees from the Faculty of Education participated in this field visit, they interacted with the village people and PHC Doctors, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and school stakeholders regarding the disability scenario in the village. 15 children with special needs could be screened and identified for disability ranging from intellectual disability, autism, hearing impairment, deafblind, blindness and cerebral palsy. Family members and other Stakeholders present there were briefed about the services catered through UDAAN (Centre for Ability Enhancement), they were asked to bring the children with special needs to UDAAN and get quality services. The visit program was initiated under the chief patronage of Prof.(Dr.) Madhavi Sharma, Dean Faculty of Education, Supervised by Head of the Department, Mr. Ravinder Saini, Asst. Academic Associations (Qabil and Tutelage) of the Faculty of Education, under the aegis of SVSP and IIC organised a field visit at Mundakhera on 3rd May 2024, the visit focused on identifying the positive voices of villagers towards inclusive development. 45 Student Teacher Trainees from Faculty of Education participated in this field visit, they interacted with the village people and heard the various issues related to upbringing of their family member with a disability in day to day life, they empathized their situation. Stakeholders present over there were briefed about the services catered through UDAAN (Centre for Ability Enahncement), they were asked to bring the children with special needs at UDAAN and get the quality services. On 26th April 2024, Academic Association (Tutelage and Qabil) of Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education in collaboration with Samajik Vikas SGT Ka Prayas and under the aegis of Institutions Innovation Council of SGT University, organized a community outreach program aimed at Village Inclusion by bridging communities and abilities, 20 children with special needs were identified through door to door survey and communicating with ICDS and Anganwadi worker of the village Kheda Khurampur, situated 15 Kms away from SGT University Campus. 43 students participated in this program. On 26th March 2024, the Faculty of Education organized an awareness program on Epilepsy to mark the significance of “Purple Day”, the program started with a brief introduction about the day by Mr. Abhra Mukhopadhyay, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Education, Welcome note by Dean, Faculty of Education. As a resource person, Dr.Saurav Kumar, Associate Professor, Faculty of Physiotherapy, SGT University delivered his expert talk with sufficient illustration on the condition of Epilepsy along with its first-hand management. 97 students from the Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Physiotherapy attended the program in interactive mode.

On 19th March 2024, the Faculty of Education organized a hands-on workshop on "Stress Management". Prof Madhavi Sharma welcomed the resource person. The session focused on creating a comfortable and open atmosphere for the students to understand the concept of stress, and sources of stress, learning effective stress management strategies and time management strategies. 124 students along with faculty members from different departments participated in this workshop.
Various activities were conducted such as Participants were given questionnaires to measure their stress level, time management skills, gratitude journaling, and relaxation exercises. A vote of thanks was given by Dr. Neha Sharma.

On 28-29 February, 2024, the Faculty of Education, organized a Workshop on Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development focussed on various hands-on working experiences related to First Aid Preventive measures aimed to equip the participants with necessary skills, attitudes, and positive behavior towards the person suffering from a medical emergency. The First Aid measures included are Management of Burns, Nose Bleeding, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Resuscitation, etc. 61 students from different departments participated in this workshop. Student participants benefited and learned preventive strategies and safety protocols to mitigate the risk of accidents and injuries, equipped with the knowledge and skills to identify potential hazards. Participants imbibed the theoretical knowledge into actionable behaviors by practicing hands-on first aid techniques in simulated scenarios, and gained confidence and readiness to respond effectively in real-life emergency situations.

On 18-19 December, 2023, the Faculty of Education, participated in
International Year of Millets 2023, to organized by revitalising Rainfed Agriculture as a co-organizer for Millet Mela 2023 in collaboration with Kheti Virasat Mission, Affordable Private Schools Association, (APSA) SGT University with the co-organizers including several other civil society groups to be scheduled on December 18th and 19th, 2023, at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi. It celebrated the global significance of millets in sustainable agriculture and nutrition, aiming to raise awareness about their importance in our daily lives.
Students performed Nukkad Natak there and they welcomed every coordinator with a memento and Shawl.

On 7 December, 2023, a special athletic meet was organized by the Faculty of Education, Department of Special Education and Education in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports, SGTU and Special Olympics Bharat, Haryana. The event was held to mark the International Day of People with Disability and to celebrate the achievements and abilities of differently-abled individuals. The event started at 08.00 AM and lasted till 02.00 PM at the university campus. More than 200 participants from various schools and colleges participated in various track and field events such as running, jumping, throwing, and relay races. The event was a great success and witnessed enthusiastic participation from both the athletes and the spectators. The winners were awarded medals and certificates by the dignitaries present at the event. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, who thanked all the stakeholders for their support and cooperation.

On 5 December 2023, the Faculty of Education, Department of Special Education under the aegis of Academic Association, Qabil, SGT University, organized an International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was held from 10.00 AM to 03.00 PM and aimed to raise awareness and promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society. The event featured various activities such as cultural performances, and panel discussions by persons with disabilities and their organizations. The event also highlighted the achievements and challenges faced by persons with disabilities in education, employment, health, and social inclusion. The event was attended by more than 200 participants, including students, faculty members, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and representatives of civil society and media. The event was a success and received positive feedback from the participants and the organizers.

Prof. Dr, Intakhab Alam Khan at King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was the guest speaker who took the session and emphasized and gave us a clear picture of the differentiation between scientific writing and academic writing, the idea of using references and bibliography in a very communicating way, and how to frame the title, objectives of the study and what are the considerations we have to take in writing any type of research that in stating the problem, novelty is the most important element.

access, explore, and generate data from our real-life experience.
