As this year Art’s Month comes to a close, join the UPB Committee on Culture and the Arts together with Literati, SET-UP, and Tinig Amianan as we embark on a transformative journey of the heart and mind with "Demja: Getting By, Getting Through, Getting There Together" – an evening of poetry and live music performances at the CAC Dap-Ay on February 28, 4:00 pm.

Demja is an Ibaloi word meaning “to open the eyes after a long slumber.” This year’s Demja is meticulously crafted into three captivating sets. First, immerse yourself in the poignant verses of
"Getting By." Then let the gentle rhythm of life's ebbs and flows wash over you as we navigate the complexities of existence with grace and fortitude. Through poetry and music, we find solace and strength in the art of simply persevering.

Then, venture into the raw emotions and stirring ballads of "Getting Through." Feel the weight
of life's challenges lift as we come together to share our struggles, our triumphs, and our unyielding determination to rise in these trying times. In the darkness, we find light; in despair, we find hope.

Finally, we culminate our evening with our third set, "Getting There Together," a celebration of community, connection, and collective perseverance as we come together to share our stories, uplift one another, and bask in the beauty and complexity of human connection. Through poetry, music, and the magic of shared experiences, we will reaffirm that no man is and can be an island.

We are not alone – together, we can overcome any obstacle and reach new heights of joy, fulfillment, and possibility.

For safety reasons, we're keeping the flames low-key at this year’s Demja! Let's keep the vibes high and the risks low by skipping the bonfires. Still, we invite everyone to an unforgettable evening of reawakening and celebrating the power of community. As one, let us join in a circleto ease our weary hearts, our tired minds, and simply let the arts soothe our souls to a worthwhile moment of peace, laughter, and companionship.

TINIG AMIANAN IS BACK!

UP Baguio Tinig Amianan competed in the 15th Inter-school Christmas Chorale Competition at Baguio Country Club on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

The sole chorale group of UP Baguio had its comeback to the stage after three years of hiatus, performing classic Christmas carols. Established in June 1970, the group continues to uphold musical excellence.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the following:

Maestro Louie Aribon, music and contemporary arts teacher at Xavier School Nuvali and PUP College professor, who directed the choir.
