Olympic Champion in Singapore! 🏅

We had the honor of welcoming Olympic champion Tibor Andrásfi to Singapore! He conducted a week-long summer training camp for young épée fencers at the invitation of the SG Academy of Fencing. 🤺✨

We were invited to the Friday session, where we experienced firsthand just how much it means to these young athletes to learn from an Olympic champion! 🌟

Wishing the team the best of luck for the upcoming season, and we look forward to seeing them in Budapest this November! 🇭🇺🎯

The Hungarian team Magyar Paralimpiai Csapat achieved outstanding results at the Paralympic Games, bringing home 🥇5 gold, 🥈6 silver, and 🥉4 bronze medals, along with many point-winning positions.

We wholeheartedly congratulate the medalists, as well as those who may not have won a medal this time but gave the best performance of their lives. 💪👏

🎉 Exciting News: The Hungarian Enrichment in Singapore is Starting Soon! 🇭🇺

Yesterday afternoon we had an informative event at the Embassy where we learned that the Hungarian Enrichment Program in Singapore will be launching soon! Starting from September, there will be Hungarian culture and language sessions held twice a month for the youngest and younger members of our community. These sessions aim to help them master our beautiful yet challenging language and connect them more closely with our rich cultural heritage.

Thank you for the informative presentation for Emőke Sasi, Dora Barta, Csilla Kicsi, the delicious treats, and the guests to come. We hope many families will actively join and become a part of it! 🙌

Yesterday we had the immense pleasure of welcoming former Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme students who pursued their higher education in Hungary! 🎓

They were joined by talented Hungarian students currently studying in Singapore, thanks to their unwavering dedication and hard work. Some of these bright minds are here through the student exchange program between Semmelweis Egyetem and NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, while others are just starting their exciting journey at the NUS Business School! 📚

🌍We’re absolutely thrilled that so many could join us, and we can’t wait for the incredible memories and experiences that lie ahead for these students.

A big shoutout to two young and passionate local entrepreneurs, Jasper and Jody, for bringing the exquisite wines of Hungary to the Red Dot! 🇸🇬

Thanks to their dedication, Hungarian 🇭🇺 wines from the Carpathian Basin are being enjoyed right here in Singapore.
The recent wine tastings were a hit, with nearly 30 Singaporeans attending the events. The rich flavors and unique varieties left everyone wanting more!

We gathered once again for our traditional picnic, marking Hungary's National Day with good food, great company, and cherished traditions.

This year, we introduced a new and exciting element—a bread-baking contest! 🥖✨ It was a joy to see the creativity and skill in every loaf, making our gathering even more special.

🇭🇺Did you know that the ballpoint pen was invented by a Hungarian? László Bíró, the brilliant mind behind this invention, revolutionized the way we write.

We're sure everyone has a few of these lying around at home or in the office. Imagine the impact of this simple yet indispensable tool on our daily lives. Whether it's jotting down notes, signing important documents, or unleashing your creativity, the ballpoint pen has been a constant companion.

In 1930, a Hungarian inventor observed children playing with marbles in a puddle, noticing that the marbles left a trail of water in their wake. That's how the idea came about: why not use a ball-shaped metal nib for writing? This is how the pen was born. ✒️🖋 László József Biro shared his idea with his brother György, a chemist, and together they began researching and experimenting to create a new type of pen based on this concept. Finally, they found the perfect combination: a viscous ink and a tip with a small ball that rotated freely, preventing the ink from drying out and controlling its flow. They presented their invention at the Budapest International Fair in 1931 and patented it in 1938, although they did not market it immediately. With the start of World War II, the brothers emigrated to Argentina, where they founded a company in a garage. Although they were initially unsuccessful due to the high cost of the product, they secured a contract with the British Air Force, which boosted their popularity. In 1943, they licensed their invention to Eversharp Faber in the United States for $2 million. In 1950, Marcel B**h acquired the rights and, on the recommendation of an advertising expert, dropped the "h" from his surname and founded the company BICGroup. In that year, they launched the first BIC Cristal, one of the most perfect designs ever created, of which more than 20 million units are sold every day around the world. Since 1953, more than 100 billion BIC Cristals have been manufactured, making it the best-selling pen of all time.

🏆⚽️ What a fantastic day at the National Stadium in Singapore! 🎉

This Sunday the Central and Eastern European Chamber of Commerce Singapore - CEEC and Sport Singapore (Sport SG) hosted an incredible amateur football match. For the first time, we witnessed an exciting showdown between the Sport SG team and the CEEC team, which proudly included four passionate 🇭🇺 Hungarian players.

The game was intense and thrilling, and it was clear that both teams gave it their all. The energy from the players and spectators made for an unforgettable experience! 🌟

A big thank you for the organisers and to everyone who joined and made this event such a success. To cap off the day, we honored the best players from both teams with Hungarian national team jerseys, sponsored by the Embassy. 🏅🇭🇺

It's no secret that our embassy's mission is to position Hungary as the gateway to Europe for Singaporean companies. And the numbers are backing our endeavour! 📈

🤝 We're eagerly looking forward to working closely with the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) on their upcoming trip to Hungary. This visit aims to strengthen business ties between our nations, elevating trade and investment relations to the next level. Hungary shares Singapore's commitment to maintaining multilateralism and further deepening trade relations amid the geopolitical uncertainties of our time. 🌐

Though it's been a good 3 weeks since the conclusion of the Singapore Apex Business Summit (SABS) hosted by SBF, we'd like to share a throwback memory. We're still impressed by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat's insightful address and grateful for the valuable contacts we developed at the event. Kudos to SBF for organizing such a great summit! 👏

🥇We closed the final day of the Olympics with a stunning gold medal from Michelle Gulyás.

Heartfelt congratulations to the Hungarian team, who finished the Olympics with 19 medals (6 🥇7 🥈6🥉), securing an impressive 14th place on the medal table.
