Singapore became the first country in Southeast Asia to implement a carbon tax in 2019, and launched the region’s first carbon exchange in 2023. Just last month, the Singapore Carbon Market Alliance was launched, the first platform in Singapore aimed at helping companies obtain access to high-quality Article 6 carbon credits. Further cementing its leadership, Singapore has signed numerous agreements with developing countries on carbon credit collaboration over the years. 🌱

The SCP recently welcomed 25 officials from 19 countries for the second iteration of its “Introduction to Carbon Markets” course. 🌏 It is our hope to build capacities in carbon trading globally.

Highlights of the course included a learning journey to AirCarbon Exchange, a platform for trading carbon credits and other environmental instruments, and a panel discussion featuring industry experts – Saurabh Joshi, Director at Climate Impact X, and Rajesh Sunderesan, Co-founder of Carbon Impact Capital. A big shout-out to SMU Executive Development - SMU ExD for making these possible, and read on to hear our participants’ takeaways!
