"The Miller Amendment unexpectedly passed a bloc vote in the US House Committee on Agriculture on Thursday. In a last minute turn of events, Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson ordered an “en bloc” vote of all amendments, rather than voting on them individually. This was presumably done because he knew that he did not have enough votes to pass the Miller Amendment on its own. Unfortunately, the tactic worked. This is especially frustrating given that the Chairman has previously expressed interest in retaining the current definition of “h**p” for the next farm bill.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the Miller Amendment was specifically designed to kill the h**p cannabinoid industry. This is because the Miller Amendment:

- Changes the definition of “h**p” so that total THƆ must not exceed 0.3%.

- Expressly excludes viable seeds from a ma*****na plant from the definition of “h**p”, even though they contain almost no THƆ and the DEA itself considers them to be h**p.

- Expressly excludes cannabinoids that the plant produces but which are synthesized or manufactured outside the plant from the definition of “h**p”, even if they are produced using cGMP or other internationally accepted quality control standards and are identical to the naturally occurring ones.

-Expressly excludes “quantifiable amounts” of THƆ, including THƆa, and “any other cannabinoids that have similar effects (or which are marketed to have similar effects) on humans or animals as THƆ” from the definition of “h**p”.

Taken together, these provisions of the Miller Amendment strike a deadly blow to the entire h**p cannabinoid industry. If enacted into law, the h**p industry as we know it will no longer exist. If you read the provisions carefully, it should be clear that the Miller Amendment was not written by a hack or even someone who is simply concerned about so-called “intoxicating cannabinoids”. This amendment was written by insiders with a very specific agenda. Presently, the author is not known to me, but this policy has been the subject of a major lobbying push by a select group of Big Ma*****na organizations to erase the h**p industry."

"People who use ma*****na take more walks on average compared to non-users and e-cigarette users, according to the findings of a new study that “challenge the stereotype” of cannabis consumers being less active.

The study, published in the journal Preventive Medicine Reports late last month, also found that ma*****na consumers are no less likely to engage in basic exercise and strength training compared to non-users.

Researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas and Ohio University carried out the study, which was based on data on 2,591 adults who participated in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health from 2016-2018.

"Erie, PA: Patients authorized to consume medical cannabis products report significant improvements in their overall health, according to data published in the journal Medical Cannabis and Cannabinoids.

Researchers affiliated with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine assessed the impact of medical cannabis on patients’ physical and emotional well-being. Participants in the study possessed a doctor’s authorization to access state-licensed cannabis products in Pennsylvania. Patients’ symptoms were assessed upon enrollment in the study and then again at 30, 60, and 90 days. Most patients enrolled in the study inhaled herbal cannabis or concentrates.

Investigators said that patients’ cannabis use resulted in immediate symptom improvements. These improvements were sustained for the length of the study. Those patients who consumed cannabis products once per day displayed greater improvements in their general health than did those who used it more frequently. Only minor side effects (e.g., cough, dry mouth) were reported. "
