New Fall Group Fitness Schedule!

Hey CNFC Family, we hope you are having a great summer!

We are pleased to announce our new Group Fitness Schedule for the Fall Season of 2022!!

We are so happy to be expanding our group fitness schedule and adding more In-Person classes hoping to bring that pre-pandemic feel back to our studio spaces.

We have added instructors and more In-Person classes at both EFC and RFC and are keeping many of our virtual and hybrid classes on the schedule too.

Here is the final draft of our IN-PERSON Fall Schedule for both RFC and EFC. Please see the link in bio for our virtual schedule.

The new schedule goes into effect after Labor Day.

New face, new classes!

Hey CNFC family, meet Marshall our newest instructor to join the team!

Marshall is a fresh fitness instructor, eager to help others have a great workout. Fitness has always been a passion of his. After years of learning and practicing to create his own exercise and nutrition routines, moving on to sharing that knowledge with others seemed only natural. As an instructor, Marshall is friendly, well-spoken, and excited to teach. Outside of fitness, he is also a professional actor, performer, and public speaker.

You can find Marshall at our Ravenswood location on Monday’s and Wednesday’s leading our new classes:

Slow and Steady - Monday’s at 5:30 pm

Cardio Core - Wednesday’s at 5:30 pm

Both classes are also virtual.

Slow and Steady:
A 60-minute full-body strength training class centered around form and stability. The motions of each exercise are executed as slowly as possible in timed segments. This class perfects your form while improving your balance, stability, and strength and working you hard!

CardioCore:
A 45-minute hybrid circuit and interval class focusing on getting your heart pumping and core burning. The workout combines HIIT-style cardio intervals with a wide variety of core exercises including mat, weighted, and bodyweight.

Hello CNFC family,

Our clubs will not be staffed Monday June 30th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Members will have normal access from 4am -11 pm with their key fob all holiday weekend.

Also we will not be offering classes for the holiday weekend. No classes from Friday June 27 to Monday May 30th.

Classes will resume Tuesday May 31st.

Greetings CNFC family,

We hope all of you had a great holiday season!

Out of an abundance of caution we have decided to suspend our In-Person classes for the month of January.

With the recent rise in cases we are hoping to keep our members, staff and community as safe as possible and reduce the chance for transmission by not holding classes while the infection rates are so high.

We hope to resume classes in February and or when the number of Covid cases are down to a safer level.

We will still be offering Virtual Classes on our Virtual Wellness Platform included in all memberships. Many classes are also recorded and saved to our On Demand Library so you can get your workout done on your own schedule.

Want to try a different kind of curl? Try the Zottman Curl.

Start by curling a pair of dumbbells with your palms faced up.

At the top pronate your hands so your palms face down and lower the dumbbells.

Repeat for reps.

The benefits- Wirh the Zottman Curl it works both the Bicep Brachialis and Bicep Brachioradialis (The bicep and forearms.)

Trainer Spotlight:

Tony is an ACE certified personal trainer whose passion for fitness began when he was a Junior in high school. It started with dusting off his parents' Total Gym and drinking clumpy protein shakes before blender bottles were mainstream. His journey then progressed into taking 'Strength and Conditioning' classes offered by his school and reached a humbling peak when he won the “highly coveted” "Physical Fitness Student of the Year" as a high school Senior in the Northern Suburbs. He loves to talk sports, music, video games and of course anything exercise related. He found new motivation in joint mobility and flexibility after having hip surgery in 2017 and loves helping anyone in the gym, whether they are a novice or an expert.

The Reverse Grip Bench Press

If you want to build a bigger upper chest, skip the incline bench press and try this.

Research shows that by simply flipping your grip, increases upper chest muscle activity by over 30%, while the incline bench press increases upper chest muscle activity by only 5-10%

To start, lower the bar to your chest with an overhand grip carefully change to an underhand grip of the bar which causes an external rotation of the upper arms, this external rotation tucks the elbows back more which helps target the upper chest.

Repeat for reps and once you complete the set you can safety rack the bar from the underhand position.

Fit Tip:

This is a fun exercise for glute activation. It can be done as a warm up or for those that have trouble with hip extension.

Here are some tips:

- keep the torso upright through the movement.
- Maintain a neutral spine.
- Keep the shoulders down and back.
- Maintain a neutral gaze.
- Keep the hips in line with the knees.
- Squeeze the glutes as you drive the hips forward.
- Brace the core throughout the movement.
- Avoid any twisting or leaning of the torso.
