You still have over a month to assemble your application for a Project GO scholarship! You can learn a language like Arabic or Persian in just 9 weeks over the summer, fully-funded as part of your participation in ROTC. Here, Summer 2023 UMD PGO students sample various spices and herbs in the Meknes souk, specifically ras el hanout, a common spice in Moroccan and North African cuisine. After this visit to the market, students used their knowledge in several cooking activities over the summer to prepare Moroccan dishes.

This past summer, Project GO students at UMD traveled to Meknes, Morocco where they studied Arabic intensively. During their time in Morocco, the students visited many important historical and cultural sites around the country, including the seaside city of Tangier, seen here. Even though they had no experience learning Arabic, after just 9 weeks they were able to converse with Moroccans and give presentations in Arabic. The best part? It was all completely free because of the PGO scholarship!
Take advantage of this incredible opportunity to go abroad and learn about the Arabic language and Moroccan culture next summer! Learn more at https://www.rotcprojectgo.org/
