Hazen, Aclarity, and UTEP College of Engineering have teamed up for a groundbreaking PFAS pilot project! They're testing innovative EO technology to destroy PFAS in water at the Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility in Alamogordo, NM. 🌊🔬

Goals for the next two months:
✅ Evaluate electrode longevity
✅ Assess water quality impacts
✅ Determine cost-effectiveness

Dr. Eva Deemer, formerly the Interim Director from the Center for Inland Desalination at UTEP now a Principal Scientist with Hazen, continues her important work on this project. This collaboration aims to advance the industry by pushing forward PFAS destruction technologies. 🌟

We are thrilled to announce Dr. Imad Abdallah as the new Director of CTIS! 🎉 With an impressive 28-year tenure at CTIS, Dr. Abdallah has been a pillar of our community, working under the guidance of Dr. Soheil Nazarian.

Dr. Nazarian's dedication and leadership over the past 30 years have laid a robust foundation for CTIS. As we celebrate this new chapter, Dr. Abdallah aims to continue this remarkable legacy, building upon Dr. Nazarian's visionary work. “Together with our dedicated staff, we will rely on Dr. Nazarian's continued guidance to impact research, foster collaborations, and nurture UTEP students to become the future leaders in our field.”

Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Nazarian shared, "We have grown from a small unit with a couple of projects to a comprehensive center working with diverse local, national, and federal agencies. Our multidisciplinary team tackles complex projects, developing practical solutions for the transportation industry. Over the last 30 years, we've developed unique capabilities and commercialized intellectual properties recognized for their innovation."

On May 11, 2023, UTEP College of Engineering hosted its Graduate Hooding and The Order of the Engineer ceremonies at Magoffin Auditorium, marking a major milestone for over 300 new engineers and 100 master’s and Ph.D. candidates.

🔹 The Order of the Engineer: Dr. Louis Everett and keynote speaker Montserrat Najera inspired graduates to uphold ethical standards and make a positive impact.
🔹 Graduate Hooding: Dr. Martine Ceberio and Dr. Eric MacDonald celebrated our graduates' achievements and diverse backgrounds, emphasizing integrity and responsibility in engineering.
