Come on Sunday, September 29th in the 2024 Honolulu Century Ride & Aloha Fun Ride! With options from 5 miles to 100 miles, there's a distance for everyone. Curious about electric bicycles? You're in luck! HBL is rolling out a brand new workshop series where attendees will get a chance to try out different e-bikes, and learn all about the world of e-bikes!

Mahalo to Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association - HLTA's Engineers Advisory Council, HBL's BikeEd program has a new fleet of bicycles! Not only did EAC provide funds to purchase the new fleet, they volunteered to assemble the bikes! This is the second time EAC has supported BikeEd with a new fleet. We're very appreciate for their support!

The Royal Hawaiian Band will be playing from 1-2pm at the Kapi‘olani Park Bandstand on September 29th for the Honolulu Century Ride and Aloha Fun Ride. Sign up, ride your bike with friends and family, and then enjoy some live entertainment at the park!
The Dick Evans Memorial Road Race is scheduled for this Sunday, August 25th. This 112-mile race is presented by Aloha State Bicycle Racing Association & Outta Bounds Hawaii. Check out the link below for a little history lesson about Dick Evans! Still time to register for the event as well.

The 12th annual Waimānalo Backroads Cleanup was a big success! Hundreds of pounds of trash including tires, surfboards, and more were collected by volunteers from HBL and . Thanks to the City’s for providing the supplies. And big mahalo to for donating delicious sandwiches for lunch! HBL joins Maui Bicycling League in calling for increased focus on road safety after HDOT's recent announcement that traffic fatalities are up 17% from last year. We must all work together to reduce and ultimately eliminate fatalities on our roadways. It is everyone's responsibility to share the road with aloha. HBL will also continue to advocate for infrastructure improvements that focus on keeping our most vulnerable road users safe.

Join us this Sunday for Bike to the Train!
We have multiple bike ride options from N. Blaisdell Park in ‘Aiea to the Hawaiian Railway Society in ‘Ewa. Ride along the Pearl Harbor Historic Trail and Leeward Bikeway or take Skyline then a short ride down to the train yard. We'll then load up on the train and ride out to Kahe Point while learning the history of railways on O‘ahu. Once back at the train yard we'll enjoy lunch and then ride back to the start! Hawaiʻi Bicycling League salutes the plaintiffs in the landmark Navahine F. v. Hawai’i Department of Transportation lawsuit and shares our mahalo with Governor Green and his administration for agreeing to a comprehensive settlement as announced on June 20th, 2024. HBL has long advocated for Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and increased sustainable transportation options in Hawaiʻi. Now, thanks to the courageous actions of the youth plaintiffs in this case, there is a legally-binding agreement for the State of Hawai‘i to rapidly accelerate the expansion of multi-modal transportation choices, including completing pedestrian, bicycle, and transit networks in coordination with the Counties.
The voices of these youth plaintiffs were heard and met with direct action! Their bravery, perseverance, and hope secured a monumental climate victory for all people in Hawaiʻi and around the world.
This is truly something to celebrate! Join us at a rally at ʻIolani Palace on Monday, June 24th from 10am - 1pm to declare victory for our keiki & the climate. (Rally hosted by and )

On May 14th, a person opened their door into the bike lane and struck Alan Margol, who was riding his bicycle. He later succumbed to his injuries and died on May 17th.
HBL extends our sincere condolences to the Margol family and friends. We are working towards creating a safer environment for all road users and championing public policies that get us to a goal of zero traffic fatalities. We are asking for a renewed commitment and greater prioritization of Vision Zero and Complete Streets to prevent future tragedies.
We also remind everyone to share the road with aloha. As well as use extra care and be aware of vulnerable road users.

The 2024 Zachary Manago’s Ride in Paradise for Safe Streets was a huge success! Some 100 people participated in our ride to the Capital on Saturday, and Mayor Blangiardi proclaimed May 18, 2024 as “Safe Streets for All Day”
