Baptism Testimony

The other day we were split into groups to walk through the marketplace store to store sharing the gospel and praying for people. In one of the groups I was with, we walked past a man who was loading his van with supplies to sell. I felt like I was supposed to stop and talk with him. With our translator I asked him what his name was, Javier, and if he could have a miracle in his life what would it be? He just said he wants peace in his life and to know Jesus more. I explained that we are christian missionaries from Hawaii and that we are actually praying for people and sharing the gospel. I shared the gospel with him, in which Javier responded that He wanted to have a personal relationship with God. As I was explaining what that meant he said that he really wanted to be baptized. I said "Why wait? You want to be baptized? Let's baptize you right now!" Javier was in shock and said really? You can do that? I told him, OF COURSE! I led him in some prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord and repentance. After of which I took my water from my water bottle and baptized him in Jesus name!! He was super excited! We gave him a bible and grabbed his phone number so we can continue to stay in contact and connect him to a local church. 

Thank you Jesus for this amazing opportunity!

The end of our Biblical Core Course is right around the corner, at this point in the school our students are focusing on application. How can they take the things that they are reading in scripture and apply it directly to their lives 2000 years later. There are so so so many things that the word of God imparts to us and how to walk out our lives as Christians. We have 15 incredible students who are learning to live out the truths of scripture in really impactful ways that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Every quarter our DTS students lead the campus in an intercession time. They share some history, some current social and political points and how we can all come together as a community and stand in the gap for the nations.

What is one way life-giving thing you did this week?

Honolulu is truly a bridge to the nations. An international city with vast cultural and ethnic diversity, as well as urban social and economic needs, it has endless opportunities for many types of ministry. Since 1980 YWAM Honolulu has been training, equipping, and sending young people from this strategic location to the nations, with a focus on reaching Asia and the Pacific. We are committed to doing our part in fulfilling the great commission and taking the gospel where it has yet to go.

God has brought together a really beautiful community of people, in each season it may look a little different as people come and go and get sent out, but everyone has a common goal of loving God, loving each other, and making God known throughout the whole earth. If you’ve completed a DTS and you are looking for a place to build towards the long term things God is calling you to, consider coming to YWAM Honolulu and volunteering with us. There is no prerequisite for attending TESOL, which makes this is a great course for anyone who is interested in YWAM but has not yet completed a Discipleship Training Course (DTS)—the introductory course that is required before you attend most other YWAM schools. For many, their introduction to the world of YWAM is through attending our TESOL. This course is a great way for anyone to experience life on a small, family-oriented YWAM campus, and to make invaluable connections with other missionaries you will first meet here.
