The City's 2023 Legislative Agenda was adopted this week by the City Council. The annual agenda communicates critical state and federal issues impacting the City's ability to fulfill its public service mission.
Among the legislative priorities, the City continues to lobby the Wisconsin Legislature to change its broken model for funding local government. You can read the agenda and learn how to help advocate for Janesville by visiting www.janesvillewi.gov/legislative.
The City has declared a winter weather emergency beginning at 12 a.m. (midnight) on Friday, December 16. This declaration means all parked vehicles must be removed from City streets until snow and ice control operations are complete. To ensure you do not receive a parking ticket, remove your vehicles before midnight and keep them off City streets until 3 p.m. on Friday.
The City received about 2 inches of snow overnight on Wednesday into Thursday, with another 1 to 2 inches forecasted for Thursday evening into Friday morning. The total accumulation, paired with the forecasted cold temperatures, requires City staff to complete snow and ice removal operations, including plowing all residential streets. Completing a full plow on Friday will ensure all snow and ice is removed from City streets before it freezes in the colder temperatures ahead.

Cold weather has arrived, and the Janesville Police Department is reminding the community to drive safely in wintry weather!
🛣 Pay attention to road conditions and slow down; remember the posted speed limit is for dry weather conditions.
❄️ Clear snow and ice from all windows and lights before driving.
🚗 Give yourself plenty of room between cars; more time and distance are needed to stop in snowy and icy weather.
👀 Look farther ahead in traffic than you usually do to have more reaction time.
