With immense heaviness in our hearts, we say goodbye to host Karl Roberts, a radio veteran who lent his expertise and dedicated love for music to our station since its launch in 2020.
While battling illness, Karl stepped away from his weekly WYXR show, "Steppin' Out," hoping to one day return to continue his exploration of sophisticated smooth jazz on-air.
Thank you to the "Chief Party Rocker" for providing joy, mentorship, and passion during your tenure at WYXR by using your spirited voice to bring people together.
We left our recent Stereo Sessions with lifted spirits, thanks to the incredible music and stories of Robert Clayborne. Despite losing his sight to glaucoma early in childhood, this talented local keyboard player thrived in studios and on stages across town. His 1987 LP "Power To Overcome," a vibrant mix of gospel, funk, disco, and reggae, is still highly sought after by rare record collectors.
Thanks to Robert, his family, our attendees, and sponsors for making the event successful. Don't miss our next event, focusing on Blackout's '90s rap cassette "Dreamworld." For more info, visit WYXR.org/events
