Our newest boy, Brutus 💙
This handsome Rottie boy came to us on Wednesday from Memphis Animal Services.
Apparently, Brutus was running loose in south Memphis and he ended up getting hit by a car.
His right hind leg seems to have taken the brunt of the impact resulting in a lot of joint damage.
He is unable to use his right hind leg, but he has not let that slow him down one bit. He has actually been getting around quite well on just 3 legs.
Brutus will remain under medical care for a little while prior to becoming available for adoption.
Despite his current physical condition, Brutus is doing really well. He is so sweet, energetic and completely full of himself. 🤪😆
Brutus is approximately 1 year old. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
In addition to Brutus, we have lots of updates to post and lots of fundraising to do. The past two months have been intense, to say the least. Our balance at the vet clinic this year has already surpassed $17,000. We still have more upcoming spay/neuter surgeries, heartworm treatments, and Brutus will require surgery for his right hind leg.
Stay tuned for more updates!

K-9 Veterans Day 🐕
We’d like to thank our heroes for their service on K-9 Veterans Day. You truly make our world a safer place! ❤️
Absolutely love this from See Spot Learn.
Introducing our newest rescue, Lena 🐾
Lena (formerly known as “Oblina”) came to us from Memphis Animal Services.
Lena was hit by a car and sustained some pretty serious injuries to her back left leg.
Her femur bone is dislocated from the hip socket and she also has a large open wound on the same leg.
We picked up Lena from Memphis Animal Services on Tuesday and transferred her to our Veterinarian for further care.
Today, Lena will be undergoing surgery to repair her leg. 🙏🏻
We are currently looking for a foster home for Lena where she can continue recovering from surgery once she’s ready to leave the vet’s office.
Once Lena has made a full recovery, she will become available for adoption through Memphis Rottweiler Rescue.
Lena is approximately 11 months old.
She is Heartworm Negative.
She still has her natural tail.
This girl is nothing but sweet. 💕 Despite her injuries she is still just full of love.
Behavioral Note from Memphis Animal Services: "Oblina always greets me with a tail wag and has been amazing for her treatments. She has allowed all handling, including picking her up, bandage removal and sedation with absolutely no objections."
If you’d like to help Memphis Rottweiler Rescue with the cost of Lena’s surgery, donations can be made online at checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/MRR
If you need to use an alternative payment method for your donation, we also have PayPal: paypal.me/rottierescue
Thank you for your ongoing support! We are so grateful to all of our supporters who make it possible for us to save dogs like Lena.

Our big guy, Elias, could use a lot of positive thoughts and prayers right now! He suddenly got very sick tonight and had to be rushed to Memphis Veterinary Specialists 🙏🏻🐾
Update: An ultrasound revealed multiple masses on his spleen. One of the masses ruptured, which is why he got sick so suddenly tonight. Next step is to determine if he’s a candidate for surgery (splenectomy). He’s currently getting a blood transfusion and having more tests run.
Update 2 (10:14 PM): Chest X-Rays are showing metastatic tumors in his lungs. This is not the news we were hoping for.
Please consider supporting Memphis Rottweiler Rescue today for , so that we may continue helping animals in need.
All monetary donations go toward the rescue’s veterinary bills. Memphis Rottweiler Rescue’s account at the vet’s office currently has a balance of $11,000, which we need to pay down before the end of the year.

LOST DOG ~ Memphis, TN 38125
Rottweiler, Male, wearing Red Collar
Last seen on Shadowland Cv in Memphis, TN on May 4, 2023.
He’s friendly, appears to be in good health, and was last seen wearing a red collar.
We have reason to believe this dog was picked up, driven to an unknown location and dumped.
He could be anywhere now.
Please help us locate him!
NOTE: This is NOT our dog. Memphis Rottweiler Rescue was contacted by a resident in the area who asked us to help this dog.
By the time help could arrive, he was gone. Upon further investigation, we found out he may have been
picked up by a neighbor and driven away from the area and dumped.
We are extremely concerned about him!
We are willing to take him into our rescue, we just need to find him.
Zeus is still in need of a foster or adopter‼
This guy is absolutely breaking my heart. He has been waiting for way too long to find a foster or permanent home.
PLEASE SHARE his post, so hopefully we can finally reach the right person for him. 🙏🏻
Note: Zeus will require a home environment that meets certain criteria. He is very reserved with new people and will need some space at first to learn that he is safe and can trust you. Please don’t let Zeus’ need for an adjustment period scare you away from the possibility of fostering or adopting him. Once Zeus gets to know you and begins to trust you, he really is an awesome, fun, loving, playful dog. He has already been professionally trained. After spending two weeks with the trainer, Zeus was comfortable enough to allow the trainer to handle him, play with him, and even roll around on the ground with him.
———
Zeus is approximately 1 ½ - 2 years old. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and current on monthly heartworm prevention & monthly flea/tick prevention. In other words, he’s fully vetted, completely healthy, and ready to find his forever family!
Zeus, like most working breed dogs, tends to be very reserved at first with new people. Zeus' adopter must understand that they will need to give Zeus some space at first and allow him come to them on his own time. If you rush in to petting/touching him before he gets familiar with you, it will overwhelm him. If you do not push it with him and just let him be, he will slowly start to warm up to you and show you what a big goofy, playful puppy he really is. In order to avoid placing Zeus in a situation that will require excessive handling (for example: having to be leashed every time he goes outside), Zeus will need a home that has a securely fenced in yard. This will allow Zeus the opportunity to go in and out of the home without feeling overwhelmed by having an unfamiliar person right on top of him.
The most ideal home environment for Zeus is an ADULT ONLY (NO KIDS) home where Zeus is the ONLY DOG.* He is best suited for someone who has Rottweiler or working breed experience and some knowledge of Resource Guarding behavior.
*Note: Zeus has been around other dogs for short periods of time here and there. He did fine around those other dogs. So, it is possible for him to live in a home with another dog (larger/similar size, preferably female). The biggest reason we think an "only dog" home would be most ideal for Zeus is due to his tendency to resource guard. In a multi-dog household, having a resource guarder in the mix does require a good bit of management. It is absolutely possible to successfully manage a resource guarder in a multi-dog household, but it will certainly be much easier for the adopter and Zeus if Zeus is the only dog in the household. Resource guarding behavior can be improved with the use of proper training techniques.
Training:
Zeus' trainer will meet with Zeus' adopter to go over all of Zeus' training and answer any questions the adopter may have. The adopter will also have lifetime access to Zeus’ professional trainer, in case the adopter ever needs help with Zeus in the future.
To be eligible to adopt Zeus, the following criteria must be met:
- No Kids
- No Cats
- Securely Fenced-In Yard
- Adopter who has Rottweiler or Working Breed Experience
- Adopter who has some knowledge of Resource Guarding behavior in dogs
Additional Preferences:
- No Dogs / Only Dog (see information above for more details)

Cookie is a 3 ½ year old female American Bully. Cookie is 85 lbs, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, current on monthly heartworm prevention, and microchipped. Cookie is already house trained and kennel trained.
Cookie knows the following commands: sit, down, shake, stay, come/here.
Cookie is dog selective. She likes some dogs, but not all dogs. Cookie plays hard and rough. Her intense play style sometimes causes problems with other dogs. Due to past incidents with other dogs, we feel Cookie would do best in an "only dog" home.
Cookie is great with people. She loves kids! She has been around kids who are as young as 3 years old. Cookie is an expert cuddler. She loves to cuddle with the kids on the couch.

Zeus successfully completed all of his training. We are so proud of this big guy!

Zeus was found roaming the streets as a stray in September 2022. He was underweight, shy and scared. The family who found him kept him at their home until it got too cold outside. Zeus was then moved to boarding. A few weeks ago, the family who originally found Zeus was able to bring him back home with them for a short period of time. Unfortunately, Zeus will be returning to boarding tomorrow because the family is moving out of state this week. We would like to get Zeus placed in a home ASAP to avoid the stress of being in a boarding environment, especially for a prolonged period of time. We do not want to set Zeus up for failure by placing him in an environment that stresses him out. He’s come such a long way since he was first found, we do not want to jeopardize any of the positive progress that we have made so far.
