Independence Day Parade Route
New Parade Route: The parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Ridge Road and Hohman Avenue and will proceed East on Ridge Road. The parade will end at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts located at 1040 Ridge Road.

The Munster Town Hall will be closed on May 27, 2024, in observance of Memorial Day.
Homewood Disposal will also be closed on Memorial Day.
Please note that all residential service will be delayed one day for this week only.

Summer Lecture Series at Munster Town Hall

Just a reminder. The Lake County Solid Waste Management District's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program is for residents of Lake County and is NOT for businesses, schools, organizations or those who live outside Lake County, Indiana. Businesses, schools and organizations of Lake County, Indiana can call (219)853-2420 for resource information.

Participants will be required to show proof of Lake County, Indiana residency before drop-off

Residents have leaves to be picked up should call Public Works at 836-6971 or 836-6970 for pick up.

The Lake County Solid Waste Management District is ending their battery collection program. Battery drop-off is no longer permitted at the Munster Town Hall. Batteries can be taken to one of the Household Hazardous Waste Collection days. Contact Lake County Solid Waste Management District for more information.

There will be regular garbage pickup on Good Friday

‼️ The BP Whiting Refinery has experienced an operational issue due to power outage at the plant and is flaring excess gasses to relieve pressure on the system. Atmospheric readings are being taken around the plant and are indicating no danger to the public. We will keep you informed if the situation changes.

Calumet Ave., from Broadmoor Ave. to Ridge Rd., is currently close due to a power line issue.

‼️ Homewood Disposal pickup times are delayed 1-2 hours today due to weather conditions.

💧💧Water main break on 9500 Walnut Drive. Crews onsite. The shut down will not occur for a couple of hours as Water Dept. are waiting for utility locates. Water will be shut off for approximately 4-6 hours beginning later his morning. The outage will affect Walnut Drive between Camellia and Azalea.

NIPSCO is tracking the forecasted winter weather today and into Tuesday bringing a wintry mix, including freezing rain and ice. While the weather forecast is still variable, it is expected to hit primarily Lake, Porter and western LaPorte counties.

This type of winter weather bringing freezing rain and ice can weigh down tree limbs and power lines, all of which has the potential to cause power outages.

We are preparing all available NIPSCO crews and contractor resources accordingly to respond to this anticipated weather. That preparation includes staffing additional crews overnight when the weather is expected to hit, dispersing crews appropriately across the service area and having contractor crews on standby.

These conditions can also make for treacherous road conditions. Consider staying off the roads, and if you must travel, please drive carefully and be mindful of our crews and other emergency responders working in these inclement conditions.

Water will be shut off on Hohman ONLY for approximately 6 hours will pipe is being repaired.

Crew is onsite.

Water main break located at the intersection of River Bend & River Drive (529-543 River Drive). Crew is on site. 500 block of River Drive may be without water for 4 to 5 hours.
